Revenge Exclusive: Melissa Loy on "Crazy" Wedding, Emily's Mindset, Origins Episode & More

at .

In the words of Revenge executive producer Melissa Loy, this Sunday’s installment of is one of the ABC primetime soap’s “bigger, crazier episodes.” With Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) and Conrad (Henry Czerny) getting re-hitched (for reasons other than love), expect the unexpected as only Revenge can deliver it.

Loy also gave us intel on all the other characters stirring up drama in the Hamptons as well as a sneak peek at the upcoming origins episode airing later this month. Here's our interview with her:

----------------------------------------

TV Fanatic: From the previews for this week, it looks like Victoria and Conrad are going to get remarried. What could possibly go wrong there?

Melissa Loy: Nothing could go wrong! It’s going to be just fine! [laughs] There’s a lot going on in this episode. It’s one of the bigger, crazier episodes if you look back on season one like with Lydia falling off the roof onto the cab… every once in awhile we have to throw those in there and this is one of those. It’s a lot of fun.

Mr. and Mrs. Grayson!

TVF: So far this season, Emily has definitely not been on solid ground and for good reason. Will she gain control over things soon?

ML: At the end of the day, we want to make sure that Emily stays human. I think in Season One it was very clear that she came to this new place with a huge plan and sort of had everything thought out and gradually throughout the season there were curve balls thrown at her.

I think this season will continue throwing her a few curveballs and unexpected twists and surprises because I think that’s what keeps the show fun. The mother thing was a little bit, or I guess it was a pretty big curveball for her, and once she gets that under control she gradually gets on track with everything.

TVF: She has a lot of men in her life and we now have Aiden in the picture. Who will she be gravitating towards in the next few episodes?

ML: You’ll have to wait and see on that one. In terms of Aiden, I will tell you that he’s the first character on the show that we’ve introduced that she can really relate to in terms of loss and desire to make the people who created this pain for her to make them pay. So, they have that in common and I guess in a way that makes them kindred spirits.

I also think you’re going to see a very passionate relationship between those two, which is something that’s going to be a little bit new for her and I think the audience will really like it. But, by no means have the other two gone away and out of her life. It will get very complicated.

TVF: As a viewer, seeing Daniel and Ashley together seems more like a rebound but is there more to that relationship that we have yet to see?

ML: Um… it seems like a rebound at first and we do see them come closer together and he actually does confide in her about a lot of stuff but his heart does definitely belong to Emily still.

TVF: With Victoria being very much on the defense with Emily’s mother, Kara, is there room for them to ever be allies or will they always bump heads due to the past?

ML: Probably not allies for awhile because there’s so much history there and I think all of the stuff that you learned in the episodes up until now and who Emily’s mother was in a relationship with and what happened between him and Victoria that keep things pretty complicated but it’s not out of the question for later on down the road for the two of them to become allies in a way.

TVF: A baby is a great way to keep hold of a man so what’s to come for Faux-Manda and Jack?

ML: While she flipped over the edge and we all thought she was dead, she really redeemed herself in [the last] episode, especially for somebody who has been so loyal to Emily. At the end of the day, she wants to help this girl get vengeance on these people who did her so wrong. While she’s doing that, she’s not perfect and her heart definitely got in the way of what she was supposed to be doing to help Emily so she’ll get back in the good graces of Jack.

It’s always scary as a father - and keep in mind that Jack still thinks that this is the love of his life, the girl he fell in love with as a kid - and it’s not that easy to just walk away from her. She’ll be around for a bit.

Nolan, Padma and Aiden

TVF: Nolan definitely has a connection with Padma but after last week we’re guessing her true motives. Are her feelings for him genuine?

ML: Nolan and Padma are adorable together and there will be some things revealed about her but not for awhile. I can’t give you much more than that. It’s a surprise.

TVF: I know actor EJ Bonilla is coming in later in November to play someone from Nolan’s past. Is it a business or professional connection of his?

ML: We are doing an origins episode, much like we did with episode 20 last season. Episode 8 of this season (airing 11/25) is another origins episode going back to 2006. We meet Emily and Aiden for the first time together and we see an interesting revelation about Victoria and really why she is who she is.

We also dig into Nolan’s past a little bit when NolCorp went public and EJ Bonilla plays his CEO at the time and there’s a bit more there than just a business relationship. All of these origins are setting up for future stories down the road and explaining why certain things are going to happen.

TVF: I love having Mason Treadwell back and some shows have characters that pop up every so often to stir things up. Is that how you intend to use him or will he be around for an extended period of time?

ML: I think Mason is going to be around for awhile.. He’s kind of like a gnat that won’t go away.

TVF: What’s in store for Declan in the coming episodes?

ML: Everything that is happening at the Stowaway right now is leading up to a really big event in a couple of episodes. I promise it will pay off and it will be very fulfilling. Declan and Jack are the characters that keep our world grounded in a lot of ways and you’re going to start to see a few things happening with them that are a little bit creepy.

TVF: And what about with Charlotte? They’re back together now but will it stick?

ML: They are back together! It is going to stick. Declan has been her rock and has been the only thing that has been very real in her life and you’ll see some of that move forward in episode six, which airs this week. Those kids will stay together for awhile.

Revenge airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
