Kathy Bates Joins Cast of American Horror Story

Ryan Murphy has signed another big name for American Horror Story. And this one is a former Oscar winner.
TV Line reports that Kathy Bates will play a pivotal role on the unique FX series, coming on board this fall as the best friend of Jessica Lange's main character... until turning into that character's arch enemy, that is.
Bates is plenty familiar with such a role, of course, earning an Academy Award for her villainous turn years ago in Misery.
American Horror Story Season 3 will premier win October and take place in modern times, Murphy has already teased. It will reportedly featured a prominent romance as well.
Other confirmed cast members include Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga and Frances Conroy.
