The Walking Dead isn't simply heading to Comic-Con next month. It's heading to that annual event in honor of a milestone: the 10th anniversary of its first graphic novel hitting shelves.

Created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, the monthly comic about survivors of a zombie apocalypse survivors was initially released by Image Comics in October 2003.

In honor of the occasion, the show will feature a special Comic-Con booth replete with costume contests; a zombie makeup station; and playable demos of TellTale's "Walking Dead" video game. We'll also be introduced to the “Zombie Survival Machine,” a custom-designed 2013 Hyundai Veloster.

“It’s hard to believe the growth and expansion The Walking Dead has undergone since I began writing the comic 10 years ago,” Kirkman told The Los Angeles Times in a statement. “This entire event is a thank-you to fans of The Walking Dead universe. “

The Walking Dead Season 4, meanwhile, will premiere some time this fall.
