Chi McBride to Resurrect SWAT Captain on Hawaii Five-0 Premiere

Chi McBride is packing his bags for Hawaii.

The ex-Golden Boy star will stick around CBS, Entertainment Weekly confirms, guest starring on the Hawaii Five-0 season 4 premiere as SWAT Captain Lou Grover, a character who appeared on the original 1970s program.

“It’s always fun to dig back into Five-0 mythology and resurrect a character," executive producer Peter Lenkov tells EW. “Recently transferred to Hawaii from Chicago, Grover isn’t easily sold on Five-0′s tactics, referring to the task force as: ‘McGarrett and his merry band of do-whatever-the-hell-they-want.’ What Five-0 does conflicts with Grover’s own style of law enforcement. And that creates good conflict, so prepare for some combustive tension between the two this season.”

McBride - a TV Fanatic favorite since his days on Pushing Daisies - is only booked for the September 27 season opener. But there's a possibility for his caption to pop up again as Season 4 progresses.

In other show casting news, Jorge Garcia will also guest star this fall. He will play a conspiracy theorist.
