Horribly tragic news out of the television world:
Cory Monteith, the 31-year old actor who has played Finn Hudson since the opening episode of Glee, was found dead inside a Vancouver hotel room. He was 31.
"We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate," his rep said in a statement. "We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."
Authorities say no foul play is suspected, though the cause of death will not be known until an autopsy is performed.
Police do confirm, however, that the actor was out with friends prior to returning to his 21st-floor room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.
"There were others with Mr. Monteith in his room earlier [Friday] night, but video and fob key entries show him returning to his room by himself in the early morning hours and we believe he was alone when he died," said Acting Police Chief Doug LePard.
Monteith entered rehab in April and missed the final episodes Glee Season 4 as a result.
In an interview with Parade in 2011, Monteith recounted his struggles with substance abuse as a teen and said he feared he "could die." An intervention was then staged when Monteith was 19, at which time he entered rehab for the first time.
We send our prayers and thoughts to Monteith's loved ones.
UPDATE: Along with other stars, Dot Marie Jones has Tweeted: "I have no words! My heart is broken. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever."
