As teased by showrunner Brian Buckner, Eric Northman will be safe and sound when we next see him on True Blood Season 7. That was to be expected.
But Stephen Moyer as Captain Georg Von Trapp in NBC's upcoming production of The Sound of Music? Can't say we saw that coming!
The actor will portray this iconic role of a World War I veteran and single father, starring opposite Carrie Underwood as Maria - the governess for whom he falls and with whom he must escape the Nazis - in a three-hour version of the 1959 Broadway of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.
Moyer possesses musical experience from his time working in London theater and recently appeared in a staging of Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl.
