Joel McHale is leaving Greendale Community College behind.

But for one night only, have no worries.

The Community star and Soup host will emcee this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner, a major honor for the actor and one that will place him directly next to Barack Obama, along with other power players in DC.

It takes place on May 3.

Said THCA President Steven Thomma in a Tweet:

“We’re thrilled that Joel will headline the dinner when we celebrate our centennial. He’s sharp, funny, and just the type of comic who can navigate the unique challenge of our dinner, making fun of Democrats, Republicans and especially the news media. Washington can use a little good-natured ribbing.”

The event mocks both the press and the politicians and they cover and past hosts have included Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno and Stephen Colbert.

“This is very cool & the website to apply to host it worked perfectly," joked McHale in a Tweet.

Chang: I can answer both of those questions by returning your driver's license.

He also listens to the Barenaked Ladies. Go get their dumbasses to help you.
