Tyrant is a FX's new series set in the fictional Middle Eastern nation, Abbudin.

Bassam "Barry" Al-Fayeed escaped from his dictator father and homeland to make a new life for himself in America as a pediatrician. After twenty years away, he returns to Abbudin with his wife and two teenage children for his nephew's wedding.

Barry expects the stay in Abbudin to be short, but his father has other plans. The elder Al-Fayeed wants Barry to take a leadership role in the regime, which creates turmoil for the entire family.
