Chris Wood has been cast on The Vampire Diaries Season 6.

In a teaser-heavy interview with HitFix this week, Caroline Dries dropped a number of intriguing Vampire Diaries spoilers, foremost among them that a new Big Bad is on his way to Mystic Falls.

What can we expect from the unnamed villain?

Chris Wood as Weaver

"He is just like a crazy person and he's super-fun to write and the actor's name is Chris Wood," Dries said. "He's very charismatic and charming and psychotic and likable and unlikable in all the right ways."

The producer added that we'll meet this character at some point in the "first few episodes" and that "he's gonna stick around for a while, hopefully."

Interesting. All we know at the moment about upcoming installments is that Stefan will off on his own; Elena will be doing drugs and studying medicine; Alaric will be a college professor; and Bonnie and Damon will be .... somewhere.

Wood, meanwhile, recently recurred on The Carrie Diaries as the character of Adam Weaver.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 1 will be titled "I'll Remember" and air on Thursday, October 2 at 8/7c. We cannot wait.

Vampire Diaries Quotes

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.

Dear Diary, a chipmunk asked me my name today. I told him it was Joe. That lie, will haunt me, forever.
