The Red Band Society Season 1 Episode 1 opens with Kara, a serious mean girl who collapses during cheerleading practice to later find herself with a group of teens living on the pediatric ward of a Los Angeles hospital.

Kara needs a heart transplant but might get overlooked due to her previous drug use. She shares a room with 12-year-old Charlie who's in a coma but knows everything that goes on on the floor.

Jordi works the system to get to see Dr. McAndrews and convinces the top-notch pediatric cancer doctor to take him on as a patient...and amputate his leg. While a patient, Jordi makes friends with Leo and Emma and finds out that despite their differences, they all have a lot in common.
