Z Nation Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Welcome to FU-Bar

at .  Updated at .

This week everyone, including Citizen Z, mourned the loss of Charlie Garnett on Z Nation Season 1 Episode 7.

Naturally, Roberta was hurting the most. Hell, I'm still shocked that Tom Everett Scott is gone but it's a zombie apocalypse. What can ya do?

Though Murphy's our resident a-hole, his pep talk made a lot of sense. Roberta couldn't just "check out," it was her turn to lead.

When Mack told Addy they'd scout ahead, I had a feeling he was thinking of abandoning the group. It's a good thing Addy talked some sense into him for now. I'm sure Mack will attempt this again soon.

Didn't the No Z's, gun show and liquor signs remind you of Terminus on The Walking Dead? Z Nation's done cannibals already, but I couldn't shake the feeling our survivors were heading into a dangerous situation.

How about that zombie horde eh? Next week's installment is going to be insane, can't wait!

Guns and liquor what could go wrong?

Murphy

At the gunshow Doc recognized Sketchy McClane. "Well slap my ass and call me Sally" he says... seriously Doc? It took me a minute to remember this was the same guy that sold Addy the Z-whacker in Z Nation Season 1 Episode 1. Apparently there were no Z's around for miles, they moved on to the big cities.

Roberta was disturbingly quiet throughout all this. Guess she just needed to drown her sorrows by the way she rushed into the FU-Bar.

The shooting contest seemed a good way as any to get a new truck. 10K had plenty of competition though, it wasn't going to be easy.

Quick bit of trivia for you... Did you know the musician performing in the FU-Bar was Leroy Justice? He's the composer for the series. I thought that was a pretty cool cameo.

The minute we met that douchey guy, Forman, I knew he was trouble. Didn't his apocalypse-proof vehicle sound too good to be true? Either way, Murphy wasn't taking any chances and attacks the guy. He totally zombied-out, complete with growling and everything.

Meanwhile, Doc and 10K lined up for the shooting contest and Roberta kept drinking. The contest was hilarious, zombies tied to an ice cream truck. Who comes up with this stuff? Ha!

Forman stirs shit up talking about Murphy biting him and stealing the keys to the 'Forman-mobile.'  Desperate times call for desperate measures, right Murphy?

What was with Citizen Z's bah bah bah noises? Guess he was back to ridiculous mode this week.

This is not a test. This is the Citizen Z emergency broadcast system. There's a flood, a zombie flood. A zunami of biblical proportions. If you're anywhere in the vicinity of Western Kansas you need to ah... screw it, you need to get the hell out now.

Citizen Z

Forman and his guys catch up with Murphy. That poor dude sitting in the outhouse never saw it coming, he made one scary Z though. I couldn't help laugh at the fact his pants were down around his ankles. Still, the accidental shoot out was pretty stylishly filmed, probably the coolest scene of this installment.

Glad to see Roberta had no problem taking out the bartender once he turned. While remembering Charlie, she had her "reason-to-live" moment. The hell with hope, she's back to being a bad ass zombie killer!

It doesn't make you bad that you liked to kill them and it turned you on. It doesn't. It's what made me believe in you. Such a bad ass, ah man. Not like those blind idiots always dreaming of a life that'll never come back. No, you weren't blind. You saw it and you faced it. So when you told me there was a way. A way to live again. I believed you. You made me believe you.

Roberta

Murphy denies biting Forman when Doc asks. Did Doc really fall for it, missing tooth and all? Pretty nasty that Murphy pulled his tooth out of Forman's wound and jammed it back in his mouth. Why didn't Forman turn? Interesting.

Z's start roaming in, but the contest continues. The ice cream truck music in the background was a trip by the way. Glad to see 10K gave the driver mercy and won the big gun. He gave it away though, again all that for nothing. Well Brittany did save his life with it, so I guess that's something.

Overall this was a relatively slow installment but it did pick up in the final moments. Roberta killed a ton of Z's and just like that she became Z Nation's Michonne. Yeah she's ready to lead our survivors to Cali.
