Hawaii Five-0 Season 5 Episode 8 Review: Inside Job

at .  Updated at .

After a fantastic 100th episode that left us with serious nostalgia and the pain of Wo Fat's death, Hawaii Five-0 Season 5 Episode 8 was back in the swing of things with a case of the week.

However, the real trouble was Steve not finding any in his aunt's new relationship.

Steve: That trouble is trouble I did not go looking for, that trouble was dropped at my door.
Danny: Technically. No, not technically, specifically, this trouble exists only because you went looking for trouble by thinking that Leonard was a bad guy and looking into him.

I was convinced that the lawyer and the sons were in on the murder together to run away with their parents life insurance money. It is always the slimy lawyer or the greedy children. That really turned out not to be the case when it was revealed that the mother actually hired someone to kill both her and her husband.

I didn't see that coming and I am not sure that I completely believe it. Why would a mother think that her death is better for her children? Good luck with those kids not being warped by what their mother did, which brings me to one thing I didn't like about the story, that the team seemed to figure all of this out in the span of a day.

I liked the news that Aunt Deb has found happiness in her new love, but it felt like the story was crammed into the space that we were given for the wedding. I have to admit that I haven't followed a lot of this show in the past, so I may just be noticing this as a newer audience member.

As soon as Deb told me what her nephew did, I knew we would have a problem.

Leonard

The bigger problem for Steve in this episode was trusting his aunt's happiness and life in the hands of someone potentially shady. Its so endearing to see him try and do anything to make sure that she would be safe. When they started saying the vows at the wedding I rolled my eyes (how many times do we have to sit through vows on tv), but Deb saying her vows in song made my eyes water.

Honey, I know you are worried about me, but I can take care of myself. I know from dissappointment.

Aunt Deb

My favorite part was when Steve was telling Danny that he didn't go looking for trouble. Danny was quick to point out that, in fact, he actually did. Steve's face seemed to say "touche Danny."

It was also nice to look back and acknowledge that Steve was heartbroken. Before this scene I was just thinking that it might be time for a girlfriend.

My biggest burning question with this episode was, if the boys don't take the money wasn't their parents death pointless? I know that the thought of your mother killing herself and husband and then her children spending their blood money is horrendous, but it is already done. What do you think they should have done?

Were you suspicious of Leanard too? Where you relieved to find out what his secret was? What did you think of the case this week?

See if you can solve the case before the team does when you watch Hawaii Five-0 online via TV Fanatic!
