Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Episode 12 Review: Paradise Lost

With all the talk of redefining roles and relationships on Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Episode 12, I'm hoping the writers heed their own advice.
Let's be honest, the second season has stumbled a bit and if this half doesn't connect with audiences the series might not return for another run.
Orion's true nature was predictable, while Ichabod and Katrina's bickering has grown stale. I'm glad Irving's back, which was the best twist this week.
One of the midseason finale's big questions was answered in the first few minutes. Apparently, Henry really did kill Moloch, leading our witnesses to question their purpose at the start.
Nothing like an angel to swoop in and make clear that though one battle was won, the war was hardly over.
Abbie: Could either of us imagine our lives without battling evil? We'd have to reinvent ourselves.
Ichabod: This is a conversation for a day when we do not have a trail to follow.
When Ichabod seemed reluctant to contact Kat it seemed like a good sign she'd play a minor part this week; not so much. Does Katrina really think Henry risked it all to save her? Is she delusional thinking she can save Abraham?
All I know for sure, is her actions in this installment will surely anger fans that already despise the character. I'm not a Katrina hater, but I do admit she sets the team back consistently. I have a feeling Ichabod's dear wife will meet her fate in the season finale.
The conversations about the Crane marriage was wearing on me, luckily Orion made his big entrance.
Ichabod: Is that what I think it is?
Abbie: I was going to ask you the same thing.
Orion: I'm Orion, are you friend or foe?
Introducing an angel to the world of Sleepy Hollow was long overdue. I mean we've had demons since day one right? I thought Max Brown was fantastic as Orion, but what a shame he turned out to have his own agenda.
Still, Abbie does have the mini-halo keyring which means she'll contact the renegade angel at some point this season. He probably won't be too pleased with Ichabod for destroying his weapon. Maybe he'll chill out and join the cause... What do you think?
Orion's mission was to kill Headless, obviously that's not going to happen. Can you imagine Sleepy Hollow without its Headless Horseman? Makes the entire episode seem kind of pointless no? Plus Katrina fighting to save Abraham makes her all the more unlikeable.
I loved Crane pointing out that Lucifer was an angel, as well as Abbie questioning Orion about God.
Abbie: I would kick myself if I didn't ask this, what's he like? If he is a he and not a she.
Orion: By he you mean...
Abbie: The almighty, Yahweh, Jehovah; whatever name you use.
Orion: The concept of names does not apply. Neither does the concept of gender. All there is, is what is.
Though the angel didn't shed much light on God, we did learn he broke ranks. Ichabod later informs us that Orion was present at some of the world's greatest catastrophes. I'm not clear whether Orion caused these events or if we're merely meant to question which side he's on.
I honestly enjoyed the Jenny/Hawley partnership this week. It seems the writers have moved away from the love triangle, which is wonderful. I don't mind Jenny and Hawley as a couple, just leave Abbie out of it.
The demon tracking egg's story was amusing, as was the playful banter between the exes. Hawley's jealously was endearing too, yeah I liked the guy this week.
Jenny: You're being very weird.
Hawley: I'm not, it's nothing it doesn't matter.
Jenny: Nothing can't not matter, only something can.
Ultimately, Orion and Headless faced off. Abbie distracted the angel while Ichabod saved Abraham by destroying Orion's weapon. I'm slightly disappointed that Orion was out to cleanse the Earth and sentence mankind. Why can't our witnesses catch a break? They need a supernatural ally, it would have been cool for Orion to have filled that role.
My favorite scene was Irving walking into the convenience store. I'm thrilled Orlando Jones is back and look forward to finding out exactly how he's evolved since his death. Is he some kind of zombie? Where do his loyalties lie?
