The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 13 Review: The Day I Tried To Live

at .  Updated at .

The birthday blues were in full effect on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 13.

With Bonnie stuck in the prison world, her friends try and figure out a way to get a message to her in honor of her birthday. But Jeremy wants to take things a step further.

Jeremy's been in a foul mood for about...I don't know, maybe 6 seasons now? So naturally he's even more frustrated with life when his friends are celebrating his girlfriend's birthday while she's still stuck in the prison world. I would definitely agree with him on that.

Here's an idea: how about we work on getting Bonnie out of there instead of making the cake she used to eat in middle school?

It's just sad that nobody is even working to get Bonnie back, let alone brainstorming, until Kai arrives for an impromptu therapy session. Apparently when he merged with Luke, he caught feelings. Caring about people is not a normal emotional response for a sociopath, so naturally he's feeling a little weird.

Well in case you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a sociopath. I know, shocker. I like being a sociopath, ya know? I'm not burned by things like guilt or love.

Kai

Don't worry he's still fairly psychotic and funny. He's also still unimpressed with Delena, which let's face it, I think even the biggest Delena fans are these days. Refer to our The Vampire Diaries Round Table for more on the fact that that whole storyline is just kind of lacking.

Anyway, Damon and Elena decide to ask Kai for help AGAIN, despite the fact that last week he almost killed Liz. In fact, I'm pretty sure she was dead there for a second. (Do these people ever learn?!)

Jeremy, who has some brains despite his poor attendance record at Mystic Falls high school, is the only one who is questioning why Kai is still breathing in their presence. But being that Jer is just plain miserable enough to downgrade his status from a series regular, he opts in on a plan that allows him to see Bonnie.

Kai is actually honest this time about the side effects being very Ghost like and everyone is prepared for not being able to talk to Bonnie. The only thing they aren't prepared for is that she's about to commit suicide. Oops, did Damon forget to mention the suicide pact?

By the way, yes Kai, it was very sad about Patrick Swayze

Jeremy agrees to go back in alone, even if it means he might not come out. Somehow he is able to save Bonnie and get the garage door open. Bonnie remembers to be strong and then she finds the map from Damon. Yes!!! I have hope again.

If I can get through to her we save Bonnie's life. If not? At least I'll be with her when she dies.

Jeremy

Did anyone else almost pee in their pants when Elena asked Damon if Kai was right about her? Her brother is in a trance state, they are trapped upstairs during a spell that he may not come back from, and Elena is worried about something a serial killer said about her. TYPICAL ELENA. It's always about number one!

Elsewhere, I appreciated Stefan trying to help Caroline through her emotions this week, but I have a feeling things are going to get harder down the line when Liz really does pass away. Either way, the scenes were enjoyable and at least if they go with this romance, they are easing us in by reminding us of when Stefan and Caroline were truly great friends to one another.

Next week we say goodbye to Jeremy on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 14, entitled "Stay."

I truly wish Jer would bring Matty blue eyes with him because- Holy Crap- I can't believe he has been roped into Enzo's boring ass revenge fantasies. That boy deserves better!

If you want to see Tyler get pissed and drop a break up on Liv, don't forget you can watch The Vampire Diaries online anytime here at TV Fanatic!

In Bonnie-land that means there's an island off of Nova Scotia with a big magical battery waiting to be tapped.
