Dancing With the Stars Review: Season 20 Finals!

It's the finals!

On Dancing With the Stars Season 20 Episode 12, the three remaining couples danced their hearts out in hopes of winning the mirror ball trophy.

Noah and Sharna, Riker and Allison, and Rumer and Val began by choosing one dance to perform a second time in hopes of earning higher scores. Then, they danced the long awaited freestyle routines.

Every single one of the remaining couples gave the performances of their lives. They all showed passion and hard work, and all of the dances were fantastic. Truly.

The repeat performances are nice to watch because they give us a chance to see just how far our finalists have come. All three couples showed major improvements, not only in their dancing skills, but also in their confidence. It also means we got to see a few favorite dances once again.

Noah and Sharna's may not have earned as high of a score as they would have liked for their Argentine Tango, but it was definitely stronger than it was the first time around, particularly thanks to Noah's improved confidence.

Riker and Allison, on the other hand, blew everyone's mind by improving even further on their Pirates of the Caribbean themed Paso Doble from Dancing With the Stars Season 10 Episode 5. This was already one of my favorite dances from Dancing With the Stars Season 10, but now we got the chance to see how much better it could be. Len even gave it a standing ovation, and called it "epic."

Rumer and Val's repeat of their Foxtrot didn't disappoint, either. Rumer showed early on in this competition that she had what it takes, not just in skills, also in her passion. How can you not root for her?

But the freestyles! Oh, the freestyles! That's always what the finals is about, and boy did these dancers bring it.

Noah and Sharna's performance was completely breathtaking and powerful. It not only gave Noah an amazing chance to show what he can do, but it also told a story that evoked strong emotions. Absolutely incredible.

Riker and Allison's freestyle was probably one of the most unique we've ever seen. As good as it was, I wish it had shown off Riker's dance moves just a little more.

Rumer and Val's performance took a different approach, with a simple dance that didn't bring along extra dancers or props or special effects. I couldn't take my eyes off of it.

At this point, I think it could be anybody's game. All of these contestants have worked hard and done well, but they're also all likable and show how much they really want this.
