It seems like forever since our ragtag team of heroes failed to take down The Master.
On July 12, we rejoin Eph, Nora, Abraham, Fet, Dutch, Gus and a few new characters as they continue to fight the good fight. Doctor's Goodweather and Martinez shift their focus back to science in an attempt to create a bio-weapon that kills strigoi.
Meanwhile, Setrakian searches for an ancient book known as the "Occido Lumen," which details the strigoi's history and may contain a weakness to defeat them.
Take a few moments to catch up with the gang and learn a few important details about The Strain Season 2 Episode 1. This season promises to be more insane than the first, because naturally the Master won't take any of this lying down.
1. A biological strigoi-killer? - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Nora and Ephraim clear out a nearby lab in order to work on their biological strigoi-killer. Will they find a way to infect the infected, bringing an end to the strain once and for all?
2. Corey Stoll as Eph Goodweather - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
The Master has taken everything from Eph. This season, rather than follow Abraham on his crusade, Dr. Goodweather will focus on what he's good at and return to science. If he and Nora can come up with a biological weapon to fight the strain, they might stand a fighting chance.
3. Mia Maestro as Nora Martinez - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
The moment Nora was forced to "release" her mother changed her forever. This season, she dedicates herself to discovering a strigoi-killing virus that will put an end to the Master once and for all. Is there any chance such a weapon can be created?
4. David Bradley as Abraham Setrakian - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Abraham had been hunting the Master for decades and led the fight last season. However, he lost his faith when the creature survived outside in the sun rather than burn to a crisp. This season, Setrakian will search for the Occido Lumen, an ancient text that may possibly hold the key to the Master's downfall.
5. Natalie Brown as Kelly Goodweather - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
It's no secret that Kelly is now a strigoi. However, this season her connection to Zack pays off as the Master grants her additional "gifts" and a weapon. He's hell-bent on revenge and it's Kelly's mission to locate our ragtag group of survivors. Will she speak again and pass as human like Eichhorst?
6. Richard Sammel as Thomas Eichhorst - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
The Master's chief lieutenant managed to infiltrate Setrakian's liar causing our heroes to go on the run. In order to locate them, Eichhorst will supervise a group of special strigoi which includes Eph's ex-wife. Will there be any post–World War II flashbacks this season?
7. Kevin Durand as Vasiliy Fet - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Vasiliy quickly became Setrakian's right-hand man, due to his unemotional nature. In Season 2, his fight to take back New York continues. While Abraham searches for the fabled "Occido Lumen," Vasiliy will clear out the strigoi block by block. Let the muncher hunting begin!
8. Ruta Gedmintas as Dutch Velders - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Dutch caused serious trouble last season by crashing the internet and disrupting communication. She has since been trying to make good, and formulated a plan for Eph to broadcast a warning over the Emergency Alert System. This season, she's an essential part of the resistance and growing closer to Fet every day. Can a relationship between them last?
9. Miguel Gomez as Augustin Elizade - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Gus worked briefly alongside Eichhorst, and is responsible for transporting the Master to Manhattan. From the moment he lost his best friend and family to the strain, Gus has been fighting to redeem himself. Last season, a mysterious group of rogue strigoi offered to make him their "daywalker" in the fight against the Master. This season, his mission continues and Gus will inevitably come across the other freedom fighters strengthening their cause.
10. Jonathan Hyde as Eldritch Palmer - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Palmer is the human villain of our story, striking a deal with the Master in exchange for immortality. Of course, the Master denied him this, granting the old man improved health instead. In Season 2, Palmer continues to help spread the strain while publicly pretending to fight it. The villain takes on a pretty young assistant this season, who may ultimately disrupt his wicked plans.
11. Jack Kesy as Bolivar - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Bolivar is the only survivor of the original four from the "dead plane." His rock star status and wealth allowed him to provide the Master a safe haven when Setrakian destroyed his massive coffin. This season, Bolivar is elevated by the Master - along with Kelly Goodweather - and figures prominently into the creature's agenda. Will he seduce the public with his music?
12. Max Charles as Zack Goodweather - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Young Zack (now played by Max Charles), watched as Eph attempted to kill his mother last season. Though he understands she is a strigoi, he clings to the hope she can be cured. This season, Zack is much more conflicted and angry with his father. Eph is determined to destroy the strain, leaving Zack vulnerable to Kelly's machinations. Will she make contact with her son?
13. Fierce Fighting Machine - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Nora no longer hesitates when it comes to putting strigoi out of their misery. She is a fierce fighting machine, and the one person Eph can trust to watch his back. The two will work hard on their bio-weapon.
14. Nothing Left to Lose - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Dr. Goodweather has nothing left to lose. He's lost his wife, home and reputation but remains unwavering in his goal to stop the strain. Unfortunately, the stress has led him back to the bottle, and Eph will no doubt struggle with his addiction this season.
15. Eph and Vodka: A Bad Mix - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
There's all the proof you need folks, look at Eph staring achingly at that bottle of vodka. Will he manage to keep his drinking in check, or will it doom his mission?
16. Will Eph and Dutch Get Along? - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Eph and Dutch didn't quite get along last season. Her 'Emergency Alert System' plan definitely impressed him, so there's a good chance they will get along better this season. What is our hacker genius building in this image?
17. Fet and Dutch Get Close - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Someone who definitely got along with Dutch, was Vasily Fet. How will their relationship evolve this season? Is love in the cards?
18. Dutch Is Now A Team Player - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Dutch is more of a team player this season, using her silver sword to hunt strigoi alongside Fet. Will a relationship with him cause our favorite exterminator to lower his guard? Setrakian warned attachments are dangerous.
19. Fet Is A Soldier - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
Fet has been a true soldier in the vampire apocalypse so far. Will he get distracted by love? All we know is, if anything happens to Vasiliy Fet this season... we riot! Keep your eye on the prize big guy.
20. Eichhorst and the Master Plan - The Strain Season 2 Episode 1
