Kelly Rowland is headed to the small screen.

According to E! News, the former Destiny's Child member has been cast on Empire Season 2 in an unexpected role: That of Lucious Lyon's mother.

Via flashback, that's how.

Empire often featured scenes from the past of Terrence Howard's character on Season 1, often focusing on the difficult times he faced with Cookie before they built their powerful music label.

Rowland joins an impressive array of big names set for the Fox smash this fall.

Last week, we confirmed that Marisa Tomei will recur as a lesbian billionaire, while Adam Rodriguez, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys will all stop by as well.

Rowland has previously appeared on such shows as American Dreams, The Hughleys, Single Ladies, Girlfriends and Real Husbands of Hollywood.

She is slated for just one episode.
