Suits Season 5 Episode 9 Review: Uninvited Guests

at .  Updated at .

Can you guys believe there is only one episode left in the first half of Suits Season 5?

If Suits Season 5 Episode 9 was any indication, it's going to be an explosive summer finale, that's for sure!

With Mike's secret on the brink of discovery, Hardman breaking down the PSL door, and Jessica's managing partner position in dire straights, we're not sure if we will survive a week of waiting!

Let's all just flail for a brief minute because... TREVOR IS BACK!

Okay, not so much back for good by the looks of things, but back for one scene is not nothing!

After so much back and forth over Mike's secret this year, it's nice to finally see that story building to a climax. It's even more awesome to see Trevor doling out real life advice to Mike, now that he's in a good place with his life. Quite the turn around for those two!

The longer you go, the less the money matters. The food doesn't taste as good. The cars aren't fast enough. The view isn't high enough. And finally, you realize that you would trade it all in for one night of going to bed, where you don't have to worry, 'When are they going to come for me?'

Trevor

First of all, wow!

What an amazing monologue for Tom Lipinski! We missed you buddy!

The last we saw of Trevor, he was outing Mike's secret to Jessica and trying to wean himself off the drugs and the dealing. Now, he's married, he has his life together, and he genuinely seems like a changed man.

Which puts him in the perfect position to tell Mike all about how hollow a life of crime and fraud really is.

I never thought I'd see the day when Trevor was the angel on Mike's shoulder, but here we are!

Now yet another person has told Mike that his secret is not worth the drama it causes. I admit, I like Trevor's take on things more than Claire's, but they both made valid points. Eventually, the whole mess is going to spill out, and in the meantime? Is it really worth worrying and stressing every day of your life?

Something tells me Mike is going to mull that one over for a while.

The spark that lit this little reunion was actually Rachel's wedding drama with her mother, which led to an incredibly heartwarming moment between her and Mike.

The stuff with Rachel and Mama Zane? Not so much.

Rachel has been on fire this season, so it was only a matter of time before she ran into a subplot that just didn't do it for me. While Rachel's crisis of conscience over lying to her mother was definitely understandable, it also felt rather "low-stakes" when compared to everything else going on as we draw closer to the mid-season break.

Maybe it was the lack of chemistry between the actresses or just the fact that their scenes didn't get a whole lot of time or attention. Whatever the reason, fighting with your mom over a guest list doesn't pack the same punch as a hostile takeover.

They want a war? They got a war.

Dominic

Mckernon Motors has been a reoccurring client for Harvey, Mike and Louis over the years. Tonight, Hardman came out of the gate swinging with an attempt to buy out Mckernon purely to get back at Harvey.

Who knew big time corporate lawyers could be so petty?

Most of Hardman's bragging and boasting was easy enough to ignore, but I hope you all paid special attention to his run in with Donna. I couldn't be the only one who was waiting for her to reach across that desk and slap him, just for old time's sake!

Harvey: Now get the hell out of here.
Donna: And do it quick, before I have to call security to tell them I'm beating the shit out of you.

While Harvey might have narrowly avoided being voted out by the other partners, Jessica might not be so lucky next week.

Whatever Hardman has on Jack Soloff, it had better be good, because he's terrified enough to try to oust Jessica, which is a suicide move in anyone's book.

On the other hand, maybe he'll actually succeed? And maybe that won't be a bad thing?

For five seasons, Jessica has retained her throne on the mountaintop, sitting as managing partner through all the coups and transitions and name changes. She seems nearly undefeatable, actually. We certainly all love Jessica and would never want her to lose her title permanently, but it might be nice to see her flounder a bit in the back half of the season.

Just for a little while!

Change certainly seems to be in the air, with Jessica's spot up for grabs and Mike deliberating whether or not his job is worth the stress of his secret anymore.

This time next week, we'll hopefully have an answer on both issues as we finish up Suits Season 5 Episode 10!

Harvey: Now get the hell out of here.
Donna: And do it quick, before I have to call security to tell them I'm beating the shit out of you.

Donna: How long has it been since I slapped you in the face because that is all I can think about right now.
Hardman: Promises, promises.
