Bones Round Table: The End of Cam and Arastoo

at .

The truth came out about Agent Grace Miller, while Arastoo and Cam's relationship took a surprising turn and Brennan forgave Booth on Bones Season 11 Episode 2.

Below, TV Fanatics Ashley Sumerel and Christine Orlando are joined by Pam from Castle and Bones Radio to debate Angela’s comments about unsolved cases at the Jeffersonian, whether Arastoo should have proposed and their favorite scenes from "The Brother in the Basement."

Is Angela right? Should the unsolved cases in Brennan’s absence be on her conscience?

Ashley: You know, that line definitely struck me the wrong way. I don't think she's right at all. I think Brennan did what she thought was best at the time, period.

Pam: No, Bones has gone above and beyond her job title and duties with solving murder cases and deserves to have a life away from  crime, danger and violence. She has given 17 years of her life to The Jeffersonian she can't be responsible for cases being left unsolved after she resigned her position. Could it be that Angela resents Bones leaving and she stayed behind with Hodgins and gave up Paris and she feels Bones didn't do the same and should have?

Christine: Good question, Pam because Angela’s response made no sense to me otherwise. Brennan has the right to do what’s best for her family and if the staff of the Jeffersonian can’t solve cases without her then that’s on them.

Do you hope to see Agent Grace Miller back again?

Ashley: Yes! Kim Raver is fabulous, and I could see a lot of potential for that character.

Pam: She's okay to me I am indifferent. I'd really like to see Agent Shaw return I think she had great chemistry with Booth. I wonder if they do have her return if they will pair her up with a fling with Aubrey.

Christine: I like the actress but not the character. The fact that she had an affair with her partner and then threatened his new girlfriend means she’s simply not a good enough person to pair with Aubrey or work on the same team with he and Booth.

Should Arastoo have proposed and given Cam the option?

Ashley: I don't know. I'm frustrated with this relationship. I can see why he didn't, but I also think they've been through so much that it feels strange for things to go this way.

Pam: I got the impression he didn't want marriage with Cam after all as much as he wants to be #1 at The Jeffersonian. He choose his job over love and she didn't fight that decision either so they both choose their jobs over each other. It was a mutual thing. Deep down Cam didn't think he was really ready to take over Brennan's job and ended up being in a catch 22 situation over filling the empty job with Arastoo or giving it back to Brennan.

Christine: I thought this was an odd way to end things. All last season it felt like these two were building towards a more permanent relationship. Apparently work was more important to both of them so maybe it’s best he didn’t propose and put Cam in an awkward position.

Were you surprised that Brennan forgave Booth so quickly for lying to her?

Ashley: A little, but I appreciate her reasoning -- understanding that this is who Booth is, and that's the man she fell in love with.

Pam: Yes and no. Yes it was quick where did all her anger go but given the pain and torture he was in from the injury and losing his brother, Jared, she gave him some slack. It's not to say this won't come back up later after he and she have processed all they went through in such a short time when he was gone missing.

Booth has lost his Father and his grandfather Pops and now Jared all in a short span of time. Bones is giving him some healing time. She's so happy he is alive and safe with her again.

Christine: I was a little surprised but Brennan was so scared over losing him that it makes sense. And the fact that Booth was doing it for his brother made his actions more understandable. Still, it wouldn’t surprise me if the issue of trust was brought up again between these two in the future.

Was there anything in “The Brother in the Basement” that disappointed you?

Ashley: The only thing that bothers me is, again, Cam and Arastoo. Something just doesn't feel quite right about the way their relationship is being handled. Otherwise, I loved this episode, and I'm happy with where this season is heading.

Pam: Yes. No kiss from Bones when she found Booth alive. I love that she held him up and comforted him and he felt safe at home in her arms but a nice kiss from her to him on his face, lips, or neck wouldn't have hurt the viewers none!

Christine: Agent Grace Miller. I was really hoping for better from her story arc. Now all I hope is that it’s over.

What was your favorite quote or scene from the episode?

Ashley: Brennan lunging across the table at the murderer and hurting his hand. I love that side of Brennan.

Pam: Dr. Brennan telling Cam ,Hodgins and Arastoo that she couldn't imagine a world in which Booth doesn't come home. It clearly shows the audience that she has come so very far from the woman we all meet in earlier seasons who says she doesn't believe in love or marriage. She thought she wasn't meant to be a part of a family and didn't know how to love or express her emotions. She does have faith and she deeply loves but she won't admit it outright. She has learned that in her journey to Booth she has found it all through him and with him. How beautiful is that?

Christine: I really loved that way Brennan responded to Cam. Pam’s right, it shows just how far Brennen has grown as a person.
