Hawaii Five-0 Season 6 Episode 2 Review: Ashes to Ashes

at .  Updated at .

Sammy's the newest cast member at HPD. Oh wait he's the robot blowing up suspicious packages for the bomb squad. It's just another day in the life of the team on Hawaii Five-0 Season 6 Episode 2.

Isn't there a more efficient way to disarm a suspicious package than to blow it to smithereens in the lobby of a building? What if it were a real bomb? Wouldn't it detonate even more? It just seems really messy to me.

Danny and Steve in the car is always a pleasure. Their scenes are never boring, and honestly, I'd rather watch them talking or chasing bad guys than most anything else on this show.

Steve: Sometimes when you speak, when your mouth opens and you speak, all I hear is "wa-wa-wa-wa." It's like I'm in a Charlie Brown cartoon only you're Linus, with better hair.
Danny: Why do I got to be Linus?

It's a huge relief to see that Adam is up and doing the rehab bit. Still, I feel sad for him and Kono having to spend their first days as a married couple in the hospital. But it's better than the alternative. Their scenes were sweet and touching.

Adam: This is one hell of a honeymoon, huh?
Kono: We have the rest of our lives for a honeymoon.

Kono is no one to be trifled with. She ran out of the house in the middle of the night to confront the guys in the car (presumably Yakuza). What the heck? They're dead. Didn't see that coming.

This episode was okay, but all the things blowing up bugged me. I know it's how Hawaii Five-0 does things best. I would prefer a tad less. But, it wouldn't be Five-0 then would it? Still, I'd like more Jerry, Chin and Grover, less explosions please.

The smarmy middleman and the Trout character were really kind of creepy looking dudes. It always amazes me how scary looking bad guys are on this and other shows I watch. I want to know what the casting call sheet says about these characters. Creepy guy needed?

It always cracks me up when criminals do work for other criminals. They have to know it can't possibly go well. The middleman picks up letters at a post office box for the real crazy guy, Trout. Never work for a crazy person because at some point they will take you out. The poems were a nice, even creepier, touch.

It also cannot end well when someone is dropped off in the middle of nowhere. Steve and Danny dropped off Duclair in a bright orange jumpsuit out in the middle of nowheresville. At least they did remove the cuffs. It was a little disturbing to have Trout douse Duclair with gas (or whatever it was). I am just so thankful we didn't have to witness the burning alive Trout intended to do.

I tend to nitpick the little things in TV shows. So how exactly did Duclair get all cleaned up and show up in a restaurant? He had some flammable liquid poured on him. It had to smell to high holy heck. Would one shower have really cleaned up that smell? I have to ask.

What did you think of this episode?  Were the bombings exciting or too much? Not enough? Who were the guys in the car and who do you think took them out? It looks like next week Steve may pop the question to Catherine. Will she say yes or will she just leave again?
