11 TV Episodes Featuring Time Loops

at .

By the time you read this, Punxsutawney Phil has probably already paraded in and out of his home, either seeing his shadow or not.

That's right, it's Groundhog Day!

It's Groundhog Day!

Groundhog Day!

You get the point. While The Vampire Diaries Season 7 Episode 10 just examined Damon's life using time loops, all of the following episodes did, as well, with pretty great effect.

Scroll through and have a great spring (or long winter), depending upon that pesky, Punxy shadow!

1. Supernatural - "Mystery Spot"

On Supernatural, Sam got to listen to Asia's Heat of the Moment and see Dean killed over and over until he tracked down the Trickster, who is preparing Sam for the inevitable. Thankfully, it's a comical episode depsite the dark territory.

2. Tru Calling - Entire Series

The entire purpose of Tru Calling was that Tru had to wake up and relive every day over and over until she figured out how to save someone's life that she had seen previously in the morgue where she worked.

3. Angel - "Time Bomb"

An unconventional time loop, Illryia is tossed around in time, blowing up at the end of every day for punishment after saving Gunn from another dimension. Angel finally gets sent back and is able to stop the madness.

4. Xena: Warrior Princess - "Been There, Done That"

In this episode of Xena, she and her friends get caught in a local Romeo and Juliet's time loop after Romeo struck some sort of deal with Cupid. Xena has to fix the houses or be stuck, stuck, stuck!

5. Erueka - "I Do Over"

Poor Carter is stuck in a loop watching Allison marry Stark over and over. The only thing that stops the loop is Stark playing hero, by sacrificing himself!

6. The X-Files - "Monday"

When Mulder winds up at a bank robbery at his local bank, it always ends poorly with the bank exploding and everyone dying. Only when the robber accidentally shoots his girlfriend is her time loop stopped and Mulder and Scully able to diffuse the bomb.

7. Fringe - "White Tulip"

Walter Peck wants to go back in time to save his wife from a car crash and tries again and again with horrific consequences to get it right. It's a story tied into the overall Fringe arc, so one of the most important to the series as a whole, too.

8. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - "Life Serial"

A spell is cast upon Buffy, who then repeats time over and over. They mention both the Star Trek: Next Generation and The X-File episodes shared in this slideshow within the hour. Fun stuff!

9. Star Trek: The Next Generation - "Cause and Effect"

When the Enterprise blew up, it was thrust back in time a until a few hours before the explosion, giving the crew time to figure out how to stop it from happening. This episode aired before the movie Groundhog Day, in case you're interested!

10. Charmed - "Déjà Vu All Over Again"

How many times have you used the phrase it's like "Déjà Vu All Over Again"? Well, here's a Charmed episode for you! A demon plans to kill the sisters using repeating days to perfect his attack. Phoebe's gift of premonition allows her to recall bits and pieces to thwart him, but not enough to save a dear friend.

11. Haven - "Audrey Parker's Day Off"

Audrey is stuck in Nathan's second favorite Bill Murray movie when someone's Trouble is initiated, coupled with his OCD after he's hit with a car. Her days are restarted and she watches people she loves killed every day. The only way to save the town and the Troubled fellow's daughter was him to sacrifice himself.
