Wayward Pines Season 2 Nabs Academy Award Nominee

It seems Wayward Pines will once again be working with a stacked and talented deck of actors.

Djimon Hounsou has boarded the second season of the Fox thriller, playing CJ Mitchum, an original resident of Wayward Pines and a historian for the town with extensive knowledge of its complex origins.

He's the one person who can provide a unique bridge between the current world of Wayward Pines and the previous world that humans inhabited.

Learning what happened while everyone was in stasis would be a very interesting tale, indeed, and not one we'd be likely to get from the First Generation. What the heck do they know? Hey, I'm just pointing out the obvious.

The 10-episode Wayward Pines Season 2 will pick up after the shocking events of Wayward Pines Season 1, with the residents of Wayward Pines battling against the iron-fisted rule of the First Generation.

As events unfold in Wayward Pines, the thoughtful and philosophical Mitchum – a former teacher – makes a decision that will affect the fate of Wayward Pines and every resident living there.

Hounsou, who received Academy Award nominations for his roles in Blood Diamond and In America, has also been in Gladiator and Guardians of the Galaxy.

He joins previously cast Jason Patric, who also joins Season 2. Patric will be playing Dr. Theo Yedlin, a surgeon whose skills will prove invaluable to the residents of Wayward Pines.

Wayward Pines will air on Fox this summer.

Arnold: Not necessary.
Ethan: No, no I want to.
Arnold: I don't want you to.

Ethan: Where's my phone and the rest of my things?
Nurse Pam: Oh, we don't have anything of yours, but I can certainly put on my Nancy Drew detective hat and check into that for you.
