TV Ratings Report: Empire's Return Dominates

Fox's sophomore sensation, Empire, returned with stellar ratings.
It's one of the only shows that returned up in the ratings after a lengthy mid-season hiatus. It 12.2 million viewers and a 4.7 rating among people 18-49.
Before that, Rosewood shot up to 5.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating.
And elsewhere around the dial:
- On CBS, Survivor (9.4 million/2.1 rating) ticked up, but Criminal Minds (9.3 million/1.8 rating) and Criminal Minds Beyond Borders (7.3 million/1.4 rating) sunk.
- On The CW, Arrow (2.4 million/0.9 rating) recovered from last week's series low and Supernatural (1.6 million/0.6 rating) was even.
- On ABC Nashville (3.9 million/0.9 rating) was the only original, with The Middle (5.4 million/1.2 rating), The Goldbergs (4.6 million/1.2 rating), Modern Family (4.7 million/1.3 rating) and Black-ish (3.9 million/1.1 rating) in encores.
- And on NBC, Heartbeat (4.8 million/0.8 rating) and Law & Order SVU (6 million/1.4 rating) were in line with last week, but Chicago PD (6.7 million/1.5 rating) surged.
