Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Round Table: The Secret Warriors... That's It?

On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 Episode 17, the Secret Warriors' epic team up was finally given to us, for about five minutes, while S.H.I.E.L.D. dealt with Malick revealing a traitor within the agency. An Inhuman traitor that was unwillingly working for Hive.

Join TV Fanatics, Kathleen Wiedel, Jim Garner, Meg Bonney, Caralynn Lippo, and Jay Ruymann, as they discuss Lincoln and Daisy's relationship, and evaluate the Secret Warriors working together!

Daisy is a traitor! React.

Kathleen: Hahahahahahahahaha! Ahem. Yes, sorry about that. I appreciate the twist, for sure. Far more drama to be had with this than with going the easy route with one of the "second-tier" Inhumans. Of course, we'll have to deal with the inevitable round of self-flagellation from any- and everyone: "I should have known!" "I should have seen it!" Oh, well.

Jim: Is she really a traitor if she's being mind controlled? Though I will say her speech to Lincoln reminded me a lot of the dialog we've heard from the Sith in Star Wars about the darkside... So, it was very well done.

Meg: I love her as the choice for Hives mind control. I really hope Hive calls her Skye because that's how Ward knew her. The fall out from this is going to be awesome to watch!

Caralynn: Well, she's brainwashed/mind controlled. So she's definitely going to be full of regret and plain horrified once she snaps out of this. Chloe Bennet did a fantastic job during the reveal scene and the closing sequence where she collapsed the SHIELD base using her powers! She really had the crazy eyes going full force.

Jay: Yes, Chloe Bennet did an amazing job with those crazy eyes, Caralynn! I was actually shocked in was Daisy, which I haven't been shocked with this show since Jemma was sent to Maveth.

They fooled me, making me think it was Lincoln and I rolled my eyes into the back of my head at the thought that they were recycling the "Daisy's love interest is a traitor" story, but I didn't expect Daisy. It all makes sense though, and I'm ready for some killer Chloe/Brett scenes, they have amazing chemistry. Makes me ache for the Skyeward days.

That Fitzsimmons moment toward the end, do you like them together?

Kathleen: That pairing was so anticipated that the characters had a shipping name for them in the very first episode! Okay, so it wasn't quite like that, but this has been a long time in coming, and I'm really enjoying them together.

Jim: Ironically, I read before the show started that their names are "Fitz" and "Simmons" because they originally were a single character but the show creators (Joss and Jed) felt they worked better as two characters who could have dialog back and forth. However, three years later they have both been through so much they are very different from their concept and I really like them together... Maybe if they ever get married they could hyphenate their name to "Fitz-Simmons" LOL

Meg: I am a Fitzsimmons junkie. I fully admit how silly it is that I rewatch their scenes on YouTube, but I can't get enough. They have amazing chemistry and it is one of the better love stories out there. It's good to see them finally getting over that awkward phase. More kissing please!!

Caralynn: Oh my god, yes. That was one of my favorite parts of the episode. I honestly don't understand how anyone wouldn't love these two together. Fitz's love for Simmons has been consistent and genuine. The actors have tons of chemistry. It all just fits. They were so cute in that scene! I also love that it was Simmons who took the initiative in convincing Fitz that they'd waited long enough to be together.

Jay: Does anyone not like them together? They're the most human element of this show and the characters really lighten up the mood. Even while S.H.I.E.L.D. is being taken down, they still find time to make out on the couch. It's adorable.

Mack and Yoyo have such a great bond, will they be able to re-establish that?

Kathleen: I sure hope so. The fact that hey had managed to start something was nice in part due to the character growth it demonstrated in Mack, who had started out incredibly suspicious of and hostile towards the Inhumans.

Jim: That was the most crushing part of this episode was seeing Yoyo and Mack lose the ground they had gained towards each other. Mack learned Spanish and Yoyo was working on her English, and now they seem like the are back at square one. I REALLY hope they can recover.

Meg: For sure! They were adorable. They learned Spanish/English for each other. There is no way this is the end of them.

Caralynn: These two were really cute together, and I agree with Jim -- one of the most heartbreaking parts of the episode was when Yoyo said "It's Elena," cold as ice and totally rejecting Mack's nickname. I think they'll be able to establish that but one of the two will probably die, given that one of the objects we saw floating in the wreckage during the flashforward was a cross (and they bonded over their religion earlier in the season).

Jay: I hope so, but I'm with Caralynn, they seem the most expendable, given the circumstances we've seen in the flash forwards.

Can Daisy and Lincoln recover from her literally framing him for murder and treason?

Kathleen: Well, on the one hand, mind control. On the other, people are people, and that sort of injury isn't necessarily easy to heal, regardless of the extenuating circumstances.

Jim: As Kathleen pointed out, we are talking about mind control, and remember this is a show based around comic books, so I give them a better than 50/50 shot they can.

Meg: He will go crazy until he saves her. If anyone knows anything about Hive, it would be Lincoln. He won't hold this against her.

Caralynn: Yeah, I don't really care at all. I still think Lincoln is extremely boring and am not invested in their very-contrived relationship. Dragging this out after Daisy is saved/recovers from Hive's control by having Lincoln have to come to terms with Daisy's betrayal sounds like a nightmare to me.

Jay: Probably, but what Daisy said, whether she was in control or not, was harsh. It's sad that Lincoln was so easily framed, because no one in the agency really trusts him, still. He doesn't fit in, and I doubt he ever will.

React to the short Secret Warriors team up.

Kathleen: Not as long as I hoped it would be. All that anticipation!

Jim: It takes longer to say "Secret Warriors unite!" that they were actually united. They released teaser images with "secret warriors" in them back in the fall before the season started. I'm really disappointed with the brief and abrupt union they had.

Meg: it was short but awesome! I really liked the dynamic between Joey and Yoyo. I REALLY loved when everyone was suspicious of them and treated them like they were a deadly infection. It was great. I hope we get more of them!

Caralynn: It was very well done! But definitely too short. We know so little about Joey and Yoyo that it was impressive that the team's dynamic was so seamless and fun in such a short amount of set-up. I particularly loved Yoyo and Joey working together to take out those Hydra agents at the elevator. Yoyo is just a great character; she's so fun.

Jay: ...That's it? What was promised from the start of the season was a quick, five minute mission, that was a trap and ended too easily? While it was nice to see the team and their potential with all of their powers, I'm really disappointed that the network hyped up this episode so much, only for them to hardly work together and mostly be turned against one another.

What can we expect from the upcoming Hive/Daisy interactions?

Kathleen: Maybe she'll break free of his powers and vibrate him to death! It'll be an interesting mirror of previous Ward/Skye interactions, given that he's not Ward, and Daisy is being mind-controlled!

Jim: Anyone want to bet on some kissing and groping given that Hive has Ward's memories? I'm not sure what to expect, I'm just crossing my fingers Fitz and Simmons can find a cure / vaccine quickly.

Meg: I hope it lasts a while! I loved the strange dynamic between Skye and Ward so I am excited to see how that plays out with Daisy and Hive. I really want Ward to be saved somehow.and I hope that Daisy is not the one who dies in the finale. I can't imagine the show without either of them.

Caralynn: I'm with Meg, 100%. I was a big fan of the weird, fraught relationship between Skye and Ward, so seeing these two in their new incarnations will be interesting. Brett Dalton did such a great job last week with Hive-as-Nathaniel (Gideon's brother), so I think it will be fantastic and chilly to see Hive-as-Ward. I definitely don't want to see any kissing/groping though, because that would strike me as basically sexual assault, seeing as how Daisy isn't in her right mind. Gross.

Jay: I'm interested to see how this will play out. Daisy's destroyed the S.H.I.E.L.D. base with her makeshift family in it, so we know that Hive has complete control over her. It'll be interesting to see whether she can fight his compulsion as things get more dire.
