NBC Cancels The Mysteries of Laura

Laura Diamond will not be solving any more cases for NBC.

The Debra Messing drama has just been given the pink slip.

Jake Makes a Decision - The Mysteries of Laura

The second season finale which aired March 2 on NBC now serves as the series finale.

The decision obviously came down to the wire, or the show would have ended up on the scrap heap when NBC canceled the likes of Game of Silence and Heartbeat yesterday.

Perhaps NBC was weighing up whether to keep Laura on the air, or go full speed ahead with The Blacklist: Redemption.

Considering we got the news that The Blacklist spin-off was going to series, we should have expected this.

The series never did have stellar ratings.

Season 2 averaged 7 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among people 18-49.

It did keep the Wednesday at 8 slot warm and no other drama has matched Laura's ratings in that slot.

There was every reason to believe that the show would return as a back-up in case one of the new shows failed.

This marks another dark day as we approach the 2016 upfronts.

Laura never really had the odds in her favor, but this has to sting for fans of the show.

Another show has come to an end without much in the way of an ending.

Apparently NBC is done ordering new shows to fill both Fall and Mid-season 2016-2017, but we're hearing that Cruel Intentions is still alive and could land on their Summer 2017 schedule.

Given the star power of Sarah Michelle Gellar, the chances are that this one will be coming to your screen at some point next year.
