Bull Season 1 Episode 11 Review: Teacher's Pet

When Bull Season 1 Episode 11 opened with the Saints versus the Devils high school football rivalry, I knew that had to be a sign of things to come.
Jordan’s mother wasn’t wrong. If the gender roles had been reversed and the teacher had been male and the student female, there would have been a much higher chance that criminal charges would have been filed.
Like most double standards, this one shouldn’t exist.
In many states it is legal for a 24-year-old to date a 17-year-old, but this wasn’t about dating.
Susan was a teacher. Teachers take on not only the responsibility to educate but to protect their students. Susan violated that trust.
Yes, she lost her job and her teaching license, but for Jordan’s parents that wasn’t enough. As a parent myself, I’m not sure it would be for me either.
So I could understand why Liberty brought this civil suit to the TAC...and it's always good to see Liberty back. She fits in really well with this team.
Susan even took things a step further by having Jordan move in. She encouraged him to quit high school so she could home school him.
Did anyone else laugh at how ridiculous that sounded? The hot teacher was going to home school her teenage lover.
The porn just writes itself.
I had to laugh when the neurologist explained the biology of a teenager as “sex on the brain” but it was difficult to dispute.
I was actually shocked when the mock jury seemed to be swayed by the fact that the doctor hadn’t actually examined Jordan specifically.
He’s a teenage boy. Overall, "sex on the brain" sounds like a fairly accurate description.
And please tell me that you can’t get married at age 14 in Texas. Even with parental consent, that’s stomach turning.
Susan might call her relationship with Jordan love but it looked a lot more like lust and manipulation.
Bull’s psychoanalysis was spot on. Susan needed to be the center of someone’s adoration at all times.
Being the center of a classroom's attention as a teacher wasn’t enough for Susan.
Having a husband who loved her and still wanted her back, even after she cheated on him with a teenager wasn’t enough for her.
Would being a mother be enough for her? I have no idea, but hopefully the therapist Bull recommended would help.
Speaking of which, Bull getting Susan to walk away from Jordan and seek therapy felt like it happened far too quickly, but since there are only so many minutes in a show, I guess I’ll have to accept it.
As for Jordan, I couldn’t believe it when he took the stand and said he planned to raise Susan’s child as his own when the baby’s actual father was sitting in front of him.
It was both ignorant and arrogant all at once.
Why Jeffery would want his wife back is a mystery to me, but he definitely wanted to be a father to his child.
As was pointed out during the case, 95% of all relationships born out of infidelity fail. Or as I put it, if you cheat once, you’ll probably do it again.
Elsewhere, Danny began to worry that she was in her relationship with Gabe for all the wrong reasons because he was younger and she had hired him.
Bull had to point out that Gabe wasn’t a teenager and wasn’t completely reliant on Danny for his career. He clearly adored her. Does Danny adore him? It certainly looked like it.
When Chunk admitted that he never told his mother that he quit football because he simply didn’t want to do it any longer, I was left wondering if his mother had since passed away. It wasn’t entirely clear and I don’t remember his mother being mentioned in previous episodes.
The entire case circled back to this Bull quote…
Bull: We're going to win this case and we're going to win it the right way.
Chunk: What does that mean exactly?
The right outcome was obviously Jordan reuniting with his family and hopefully getting his life back on track.
Can Susan do the same? I'm curious enough to wish we could find out what her future holds.
