Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Executables

at .

Well, at least last week's episode was good (sigh).

Unfortunately, the suck-age begins again on Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7

Ben on the lookout - Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7

We're back to the same ol' boring corporate intrigue, only now it's all about Roger the dick's body finally being found.

Today marks the anniversary of the ratification of the 29th amendment, granting corporations the sovereignty we needed and deserved. An act which freed us from the incompetence, regulations and tyranny of the federal government. We make our own laws, we supply the security. We do the things which government is no longer able to do. God bless America, and God bless Spiga.

Elizabeth

The heavy handed climate change reason for the country voluntarily giving up their rights to corporations hits a bit close to home, don't you think?

I'm sure the show-runners wanted to draw the analogy of the citizens of the USA giving up their privacy and civil rights in the aftermath of 9/11 to this silly show, but it's a little too obvious.

The whole evil corporation thing is well established -- we get it. Try and develop the characters, please.

Julian and his Wife Share a Moment - Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7

Julian continues to get humanized, and it was nice to see that he has a wife and daughter to ground him. Now we know why he wants out so badly. Good luck with that!

Laura Helps the Girl - Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7

Thankfully we have a little more of the Laura story spooled out. I really like her character.

In such a crappy world, she's the only one with a heart. She just wants to help people, and all she gets is grief for it. Poor girl!

Laura: You want me to open a clinic?
Goran: I want you to open MY clinic.

Rachel in Crisis - Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7

The whole Goran situation is really being telegraphed IMO. It's pretty obvious to me that they are setting up a Laura/Goran romance down the road. But if it means less Boring Ben, then I'm all for it!

Ben, Julian and Elizabeth Meet - Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7

I know the Everclear angle is just some long, drawn out plot device to finally get to the Julian/Ben confrontation that they have been building toward, but I just don't care at this point.

Julian: First one of our execs-Peterson, gets caught stealing files. Except he doesn't fit the profile, so we instituted his non disclosure agreement. Then a job opens up on the 40th. Now this 'defection'. He's one of our top candidates for the promotion, and he throws it all away. Only one person benefits from all of this.
Julian's wife: So who is this mastermind?
Julian:Elizabeth's son-in-law. I've got no proof-no hard evidence-just my gut.
Julian's wife: Oh, Julian.
Julian: I know.

The whole brain snooping thing was done much better in movies like "Brainstorm" and "Strange Days", and we all know that Ben will find a way to get out of this pickle, don't we? So where's the drama?

Elena: Roger Kaplan? I remember him.
Julian: How well?
Elena: Enough to know I didn't like him.
Julian: He knew you well enough. Roger Kaplan thought you had information about someone who was in his way. Who was he asking about?

Since Elena finally knows the Ben deal now, I wonder if she will try and get together with him. Other than the look of shock on her face, I couldn't tell if she gives a damn.

But if they don't try to get them together, then what's the damn point? Am I right?

And don't get me started on Theo. All the time wasted on his Red Zone cage fighting can be summed up in one word -- FILLER.

The thin relationship of him being Elena's bro has long passed it's due date, and I really don't care if he becomes the next cage fighting champion. ZZZZZZZZZ.

Tension between Ben and Julian - Incorporated Season 1 Episode 7

So what do we have left here? A Julian/Ben smack down? Yawn. The whole humanization of Julian tells me that he will indeed find out about Ben and probably let him go.

Whether it's because of his loyalty to Elizabeth, or his paternal feelings for Laura, I think they are setting up an alliance between Julian and Ben.

At this point, I don't know if the show is beyond repair or not, but it's not looking good. An almost TOTAL lack of watchable characters is the show's downfall.

That's my take. Tell me yours in the comments section.

And remember, you can watch Incorporated online right here on the mother ship, TV Fanatic.
