Below, TV Fanatics Jim Garner, Christine Orlando, Steven Ford, and Kathleen Wiedel discuss Winn's first time in the field, Mon-El's big secret, and Alex's newfound happiness.

What did you think of Winn in the field?
Jim: I laughed pretty hard as he cheered about not being a "red shirt". He actually did pretty well. I think he might have a future in the field kind of like Daniel did on Stargate: SG-1.
Christine: I think it was good for Winn to get hit in the face with reality, literally. He doesn’t have superpowers. He doesn’t wear a special suit. He can be hurt or killed. There are risks in being a part of this fight, but now that he knows that, he can make smarter choices.
Steve: I've been waiting for this! I'm glad we finally got to see Winn get his hands dirty in a sense, and it was fun to watch him in "action." The "red shirt" comment was gold!
Kathleen: I enjoyed seeing Winn out in the field. Like Christine said, he stands out from the rest of the leads in that he has neither superpowers, nor a special suit, nor even real combat training (Leaving him without even one person to guard him at the gate was frankly absurd, but...).
And I'm glad Jim brought up Stargate: SG-1, because I punched the air in glee when Winn made that comparison himself! Winn's field trip to another planet gave him a whole new level of confidence, which he really needed.
Are you bored with the Guardian story line? What can they do to make it better?
Jim: Honestly, I think if we got more than 30 seconds of him fighting a bad guy we might be less bored with it. His tech looks cool and I love the shield. Just needs more screen-time to develop a hero persona.
Christine: I’m hoping to get more, because right now it all seems like an anemic side story to keep James on screen. I love James, so I’m hoping they flesh this story out and make it more than just an opening crime fighting scene here and there.
Steve: I'm not necessarily bored, just not interested. I feel James' becoming the Guardian was inexplicably rushed and I'm just having a difficult time getting on board with it. To be honest, James is a weak link on this show. Apparently, Kara can't stand him either.
Kathleen: I agree with pretty much all of you. I'm really not all that invested in the Guardian storyline.
Maybe they rushed it into the series because the departure of Cat Grant left a gaping hole in "things to do," but now it just seems that James just jumped right into being a vigilante all of a sudden this season.
Is Mon-El the prince? Do you have any other theories about what he's hiding?
Jim: He may not be the prince, but I'm betting he has something the prince sent with him (or knows where it is). As for what he is hiding, literally it could be anything in the galaxy, there is no way to guess.
Christine: That was my first thought, that he’s actually the prince, especially after he told Kara the prince was no one to look up to. I’m enjoying Mon-El more with each episode.
He brought all the funny lines, (“Start the car!"), and he and Kara looked cute sharing a blanket. Kara finding out he’s really the prince of Daxam could be an interesting bump in the road for these two.
Steve: No, I don't believe he's the prince, but there is definitely more to Mon-El than he's letting on. Something is askew, and I think we're edging towards finding out what. I haven't a clue at this point though.
Kathleen: I think that there is a fair chance that Mon-El is the prince of Daxam, especially given that line Christine mentioned. Whether or not Mon-El actually is the prince, though, it's clear that he's more than what he claims.
When aliens conduct an interstellar hunt for a guy, it's probably going to be more serious than overdue library book charges!

Jim: They are sooo cute together! I hope that the relationship now moves into "steady" mode where it's not "off and on" every week. Now that she knows about Kara (and honestly, who couldn't figure that out when you have access to the DEO), things should go better for them.
Christine: I agree. These two are adorable together, and we need at least one stable, happy couple. Plus, it’s great to see Alex doing something other than worrying over Kara. She deserves to have her happiness, and it’s fun to watch.
Steve: I'm thrilled! Mopey Alex was depressing. It makes you wonder though, how long will this happiness last? It doesn't seem like it will last. Something is going to shake the foundation of that relationship sooner or later.
Kathleen: As Christine pointed out, Alex needs to do something other than worry over Kara. Despite the fact that the series is titled "Supergirl," Alex is a grown woman, and her life should not revolve around her sister. It's unhealthy on both sides of the equation.
One thing Alex needs to accept is that just as much as Alex is an adult, so to is Kara. Kara can take care of herself and make her own choices now. Alex working herself into an utter wreck every time something goes wrong with Kara doesn't help anyone.
Alex being happy will hopefully allow her to take a step back and appreciate all this.
Roulette returned and Livewire will be back next week. Are there any other past guest stars you'd like to see again?
Jim: Not really, I think that moving the story forward with new challenges is part of what keeps the show fresh. Sure, the occasional throwback or resurface of a villain is ok, but if they did it all the time it would get so ooooold!
Christine: There’s no one I’m really clamoring to see. Roulette feels like a caricature lately. I’m interested in seeing what they do with Livewire, but I’ll be just as happy if they move forward with this Daxam storyline too.
Steve: I really can't stand Roulette. I'm not sure if it's the actress' portrayal or the way the character is written, but she's just so darn monotone and emotionless. Perhaps it's a combination of both. I would however, love to see Metallo again and delve deeper into his character, he was pretty cool.
Kathleen: I never really got into Roulette, to be honest. Though I'd enjoy seeing Miss Martian (aka M'gann) pop back up again. She and J'onn still have a few things to talk about, I think!
