The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 10 Review: The Forecaster

Who else is worried about Dembe’s fate now?

If Red saw Mr. Kaplan faking Liz’s death to help her as betrayal, what will he think when he finds out Dembe told Liz that Red killed Mr. Kaplan?

It was a bold move from Red’s right-hand man on The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 10, and one that could cost him, even if he’s doing it to try and help Red. That and he’s still feeling grief over Mr. Kaplan’s death.

Dembe is a fascinating character, and one who often stays in the background until is called upon to do whatever work is needed, but when he does get screen time, he always shines.

He plays his emotions close to the chest, but there are glimpses of concern or frustration that peak through. The big one was clearly him dropping in on Liz, but there was also when he was questioned about his loyalty to his boss or speaking to Red about “replacing Kate.”

And while who killed Mr. Kaplan isn’t some shocking reveal to the audience, it could put a major spin on where the show is headed, including the connections and/or rifts between the characters that could come from it.

Plus, the fact that Mr. Kaplan isn’t even dead? Imagine how much that’s going to twist everything around when she shows up after all the chaos that might come from Liz finding out about her “death.”

At the same time, it makes me wonder what Red’s next big play is. While it was fun trying to guess which businessman’s side he was on, and getting some revenge for a faceless friend, it set up the opportunity to get some new cleaners.

But is it about “replacing” Mr. Kaplan? Or is there something else at work?

Red: Kate is irreplaceable.
Dembe: To me she is.

As much as I like Mr. Kaplan, this new pair of cleaners looks to have some fun personalities and I’m looking forward to seeing more of them. Hopefully, they don’t wind up in the crossfire of it all.

But will Liz try and help? Will she be the one to "reach" Red?

Or will it do the opposite and put her further away from him. After all, she was perfectly fine not letting him see her new apartment... and he had just gotten her pardoned on The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 9. So yeah.

I’m still wondering what’s going to be the catalyst that pushes Tom to leave and take up his role on The Blacklist: Redemption. As much fun as it is seeing Tom try and be a stay-at-home dad, the guy is clearly meant to be out in the field.

But it was good to see that he was able to open up to Liz about his reservations rather than hiding his feelings from her.

To get characters openly revealing things during this hour was phenomenal!

Even Aram revealed a secret from his past involving a Ouija board and his rabbit. A fun moment that also was informative about his days before the FBI.

That said, The Blacklist’s main story of the hour and case of the week was highly compelling.

Putting a spin on a girl with “premonitions” was intriguing, especially in wondering how the episode would explain it. There was certainly an eerie feeling that the hour was able to establish surrounding the girl and her dioramas.

And when the FBI team was in the dark trying to read in on what the frequency was coming in her hearing aid was creepy. It was well done in revealing the twist and how she was seeing the future.

At the same time, the deaths were all connected and affected stock prices. It was more than just killing off people, it was about money. It made for an interesting story with some decent twists and reveals.

Ressler spots a clue - The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 10

Is it me, or is Ressler been more apt to just kill the bad guys recently? Maybe, I’m hazy on how he handled things in the past, but he was pretty quick to just shoot the bad guy.

Still, it was a pretty amazing shot. Ressler was quick on his feet in getting the job done and stopping the bad guy, even if Liz still had to pull the emergency brake on the elevator.

It also was a nice change of pace that while the FBI team was able to save a few people and get the killer, they didn’t manage to get the blacklister. He got away.

This was an entertaining hour with an engaging case of the week and a great bombshell by Dembe at the end.

Dembe’s actions clearly have set the dominos in motion, but I just hope that they don’t work their way around to knock him down in the end.
