Outsiders Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Loyal to the Bone

at .

Are miracles happening down the mountain, or is there something else going on?

That was a key question I asked myself after watching Outsiders Season 2 Episode 9 when it was revealed that Ledda had miraculously entered remission.

Elon Saves Ledda - Outsiders Season 2 Episode 9

For me, it was a random twist and very emotional. I thought for sure this would be her final episode because her condition seemed to be deteriorating.

When Elon appeared outside her house, it seemed like she was coming to terms with dying, but in reality, it was probably Elon's hug that helped her come to grips with her predicament.

How can you go from telling everyone you were close to death and have a miraculous recovery a mere few weeks later? It was an interesting development that's making me think there's more to this story than meets the eye.

Elon's spirit leaving the mountain shocked me, too. Maybe it was something to do with Wade helping the Farrells get Li'l Foster back that signaled this act of goodwill, but we'll probably not know for another few weeks yet.

It cannot be a coincidence that G'Win was close to death on Outsiders Season 2 Episode 8, only to make a recovery when Big Foster seemingly started to believe in the praying the others were doing.

Saving a Life - Outsiders Season 2 Episode 9

I'm interested to see where this goes, but did the kid dying from poisoning render him unfit to be safe? There's never been much of an explanation about how this all works.

When I think about it, why does everyone seem so concerned about death up on the mountain if there's a chance it might not stick? Is there something that some of them are being kept out of the loop about?

The government poisoning the crops and the kid was downright nasty. I get they want the mountain cleared, but surely there were more ethical ways of dealing with them.

It seemed like a culture shock for all of the Farrells when the helicopter appeared at the top of the hour. It's something none of them have ever traveled in or probably laid eyes on before.

It was inevitable they would react by raising their guns. How else were they meant to defend themselves from some unknown (to them) aircraft?

I was surprised there was not more of a heated reaction from the Farrells for the big death, but something tells me Haylie will wind up paying the ultimate price.

An Unexpected Turn - Outsiders

She's been portrayed as a villain over the course of the series, but she's been doing some decent things behind the scenes. Changing Breece's start date was a dumb move, but she did what she thought was right to take some of the pressure off Ledda.

She probably felt a bit responsible for his actions by employing him in the first place. Also, she had Hasil on her payroll in exchange for information.

Deep down, Hasil knew she was not at fault for any of this, but he played along with the mission, anyway. He knew his people lived by a code and people going against that could prove deadly.

What I found bizarre about the whole thing was that she was in the trunk with her cell phone. Did she not think to make a phone call while she was in the trunk to say Hasil was one of the men who took her?

Is she that unlucky that her cell phone battery was empty? If she does make it back down the mountain, I think she's going to have some information that will get her back in good graces with Matt and her employer.

That's a big if. There's a good chance she could wind up dead for not following orders. Like Foster, a lot of the people on the mountain are not going to be impressed with her and could vent their frustrations on her.

"Loyal to the Bone" was another exciting episode of this WGN America drama. The drama is hitting crazy new heights, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

  • Is it bad that I'm shipping Wade and Dana already? You could tell Dana was into Wade straight off the bat. I think Wade was against going there with Dana because of everything else going on in his life with Ledda and the potential of being investigated.
  • Sally Ann returning to education would be a good move. She has not seemed happy recently, and part of that was down to her worrying about what was going to happen with her living arrangement.
  • Where did the apology from Foster to Hasil come from? He's continuing to make sure to change his ways by writing his wrongs. It's weird but great character development.
  • Will Li'l Foster be able to get over killing in prison? It seems like he's about to go off the deep end.

Outsiders Season 2 Episode 9 Quotes

The coal company poisoned our fields. What kind of people would do something like this?

G'Win

G'Win: I think we get one of them up here... show them the harm they've caused.
Farrell: Ain't gonna come willingly.
G'win: I know.
