The ghost of Daniel paid Brady a visit, Sonny continued to seek power, and did a cursed amulet take down a plane?

Our TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Kathy from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate Daniel’s visit, Ciara’s departure, Sonny as CEO, and just how cursed is that amulet on Days of Our Lives. 

What did you think of Daniel’s visit with Brady?

Kathy: I was fine with Daniel's visit. He and Brady were friends, Brady has Daniel's heart and is in love with Daniel's fiancée. It makes sense that he was on Brady's mind which led to the visit.

Jack: For me, it was the highlight of the week. It was emotional and reminded me of why I miss Daniel so much. It made sense, too, that Daniel would come talk to the current owner of his heart. I just wish we could have live Daniel instead of a ghost.

Christine: I liked it more than I thought I would. It did make sense that Brady would see Daniel in that moment, although I would have preferred a visit from his mother, Isabella. 

Sometimes I feel like we see and hear more about Daniel than some characters who are still alive and well in Salem. 

Are you looking forward to Sonny being the new CEO of Titan?

Kathy: It will be interesting to see how Sonny makes out. He will have Victor's support and help but if he doesn't deliver he will be out the door.

Jack: No. I can't stand this new, ruthless mobster-like version of Sonny and I miss the cool, chill Sonny who ran Club TBD.

Christine: Yeah, I hate what they're doing to Sonny’s character. He used to be strong yet kind, and one of the most level headed people in Salem. Now he’s angry and obsessed with gaining power. He’s nothing like the Sonny I loved. 

How much power do you think the cursed amulet really has?

Kathy: None. Gabi is convinced of the amulet's power and I think she is looking at events through her superstitions.

Jack: None whatsoever. Gabi likes to blame it for things. Eli breaking up with her was her own fault, and the current plane crash was due to Sonny being an inexperienced pilot who should have let the real pilot fly.

Christine: It has none, but once someone hears all the stories, it’s easy to let your imagination run away with you, especially after your plane goes down! Besides, if Gabi didn’t believe in it, we’d have no storyline. 

Ciara’s leaving Salem. Are you sad she’s leaving? Do you hope she’ll be back in six weeks?

Kathy: I am not sad to see Ciara leave. It is smart to give the character a rest. I hope she returns at some point as a more mature young woman.

Jack: I'm sad that she had such awful storylines, especially this last one, which was really stupid. 

I'm also sad that her spunky personality was erased at the whim of writers who change characters' personalities to fit the plots all the time and then wonder why viewers are upset. If she returns I hope her spunk returns with her.

Christine: She can’t leave fast enough. Ciara’s SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) did not work well for her. We loved the spunky little girl she was, and none of that transferred over.

I’m not sure if it was poor acting, poor writing, or a combination of the two, but I’m glad she’s leaving and I hope it’s a long while before she returns. 

Which character disappointed you the most this week on Days?

Kathy: I was disappointed with Sonny's plan to fire all of Deimos' hires no matter how loyal and valuable they are to Titan.

Jack: Gabi's eternal whining gave me a headache, but I can't say she disappointed me because she's always like that. I am really disappointed that Hope took credit for the work JJ did just to get Rafe to admire her.

Christine: Sonny was my first choice, but since Kathy already mentioned him, I’m going with Tripp being so easily hoodwinked by Jade. 

Tripp started off as a street-smart character, much like a young Steve Johnson, and they’re turning him into just another stupid teen/early 20-something in Salem. 

What was your favorite quote, scene or storyline of the week?

Kathy: Tough week for me, not much to like. I guess I most enjoyed the quick Maggie/Victor scene at Brady's bedside. 

Jack: All the scenes surrounding Brady's impending death were great. I really liked Victor and Marlena's conversation in the chapel as well as Daniel's visit with Brady and Victor.

Christine: Most of the scenes surrounding Brady, including he and John, Victor and Maggie, and even Victor and Marlena. 

I may be in the minority, but I also enjoyed Chad and Gabi’s banter and bickering. They have good chemistry and it gave some nice, lighter moments to all of the angst and sadness.
