Game of Thrones: HBO Developing Four Different Spinoffs!

at . Comments

Game of Thrones may be coming to an end in 2018 after Season 8, but HBO is not quite ready to let go of the franchise.

In fact, the network is taking a rather unusual approach to extend the franchise: Four different spin-offs are in the works with different writers attached to each.

Yes, we really said four.

It makes sense to find a way to keep the franchise alive. The show has grown in the ratings every single season it has been on the air.

This is down to the great word of mouth and breathtaking production values that go into making the series. Seriously, it's not a cheap show.

It looks more like a big budget movie, and that's why we look forward to it on Sunday nights.

Max Borenstein, Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland and Carly Wray are each working on new projects.

Dan Weiss and David Benioff are tapped as executive producers on all four series.

George R.R. Martin will also serve as an executive producer, but he will not be writing a single episode of any of the series.

At least, not at this time.

Game of Thrones has created an expansive world that could effortlessly be explored in additional series.

Fans have been holding out hope that word of a spin-off would materialize, but we never in a million years expected four to be eyed.

There is no word on who these shows would follow, but something tells us we'll get more clarity down the line as the HBO fantasy drama prepares to conclude.

Game of Thrones Season 7 is scheduled to debut July 16 on HBO.

It will span seven episodes and will follow Daenerys Targaryen as she approaches Westeros, with a massive army and some key characters helping her out.

Game of Thrones Quotes

Tyrion: Let me give you some advice bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.
Jon: What the hell do you know about being a bastard?
Tyrion: All dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes.

I will hurt you for this. A day will come when you think you are safe and happy, and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth. And you will know the debt is paid.
