Detective Charlotte was on the case!

On Lucifer Season 2 Episode 17, Charlotte joined Lucifer and Chloe on an investigation involving the murder of a man who claimed to possess the final piece of the Flaming Sword.

When the prime suspect turned out to be a client of Charlotte's, Chloe wanted to kick her off the case, but Charlotte proved herself to be more than invaluable.

Doesn't it seem like everybody except Lucifer is a better fit for Chloe when it comes to partnering up for an investigation? Maze and Chloe worked quite well together, but Charlotte and Chloe seemed to work even better.

Maybe it was just that Charlotte was so perfect this hour. Tricia Helfer got to shine and she slew every scene she was in.

One of my favorites (there we so many, weren't there?) was after Charlotte and Lucifer found the man who had the final piece of the sword dead at the restaurant. They wanted Chloe on the case but didn't want to implicate themselves in the murder, so the two of them concocted a plan.

Lucifer was trying to guide Charlotte on what to say by playing a game of charades behind Chloe's back. Charlotte's interpretations were absolutely hilarious from hearing "fingers pointing" to the dead guy "maybe melting." They provided some of the best laugh-out-loud moments of the entire season.

I loved the chemistry between the three of them during the whole episode, but that one scene was everything. I can only imagine what it was like on set because the three actors couldn't have kept straight faces for very long.

Eventually, Charlotte was able to convince Chloe to investigate, but once it was discovered that Charlotte's client, Bianca, may have been involved in the murder, Chloe wanted to kick her off the case.

But Charlotte was able to stay on only because Bianca was having a party and Charlotte had an invitation. Charlotte got a little snarky with Chloe about how she dressed, but Chloe showed up at the party dressed to kill.

The outfit she wore with those knee-high boots was absolutely badass. Maze definitely had an influence on her. And I loved how she straightened her hair. She needs to do that more often.

Chloe got busted at the party but got herself out of it and impressed Charlotte even more. Maybe Chloe is the perfect match for her son. She certainly has the potential.

The case went along and Charlotte wound up getting a key to a safety box holding a book that held the answers to the final piece of the Flaming Sword. Charlotte wasn't too happy to learn it's going to take Amenadiel some time to decipher, but he figured it out rather quickly.

It's just unfortunate that she was meeting with Bianca's son instead of at the Lux when Amenadiel and Lucifer discovered the key because it got really nasty for Charlotte when she was stabbed.

It might not be a fatal wound, but hopefully, someone finds her before it's too late. Who wants to guess that Chloe ends up finding her?

It was surprising to learn that Amenadiel was God's favorite son as his necklace appeared to be the final piece of the Flaming Sword. But what will happen when the key is finally placed into the Sword is anyone's guess.

Will Lucifer and Amenadiel end up in Heaven? Where will that leave Maze? Will Chloe finally find out the truth about Lucifer and family?

The penultimate episode set up the end of the Flaming Sword story quite nicely, but there are some tendrils that might be drawn into the finale as well.

Dr. Linda lost her license and it seems to be permanent, though Maze did pay a visit to the ethics guy at the end of the episode so her job might be turned around.

Though it might not turn out to be a good thing for Dr. Linda that someone actually threatened someone like this ethics guy.

I absolutely loved how honest Dr. Linda was with Lucifer about him hurting Maze. Lucifer definitely needed to hear some honest truth.

Lucifer has no clue about how he hurts people whether it's Chloe, Maze or even getting Dr. Linda into more trouble than she already was. I can't believe he told the ethics guy that he slept with her as payment for services.

He doesn't know when to shut his mouth, does he?

Out of everyone, Maze has transformed the most since the beginning of the season. She truly cares about people other than herself, so it's understandable that she would be very angry with Lucifer.

He deserved that ass whooping, and I loved how she tried to cut him up by telling him he was just like his parents. Nothing cuts deeper than a comment like that, especially knowing how much Lucifer detests his mom and dad.

But even though Lucifer hurt Maze, she'll always have his back no matter what. That's just who she is.

Amenadiel and Dan having a beer together and Dan spilling the beans about his doing improv was great. So was Charlotte telling Dan she actually likes him, though I'm not sure if I actually believe her. Still, it was cute. It certainly made Dan feel good.

I didn't know Chloe knew about Dan and Charlotte, so I really enjoyed when she teased him about being Lucifer's stepdad if he married Charlotte. Can you imagine that?
