11 Reasons You Should Still Watch Nashville

at .  Updated at .

We lost Rayna Jaymes and while she can never be replaced, there are still a lot of reasons to watch Nashville.

How will Daphne and Maddie deal with losing their mother? The former is so young and the latter didn't even get to say good-bye.

How will Deacon handle losing the love of his life? Will he go back to drinking?

What will happen with Highway 65? Rayna loved her label and sacrificed everything for it.

These are just a few of the questions left unanswered after the amazing and talented Connie Britton departed the series.

Read on for more reasons to keep watching.

Remember Nashville returns June 1st at 9/8 Central on CMT.

1. To See How The Characters Move On

Rayna's death affected every single one of the characters in a different and very personal way. Deacon lost his wife and the mother of his child. Not to mention, his whole career was tangled up with hers. Maddie and Daphne lost their mother at a time when they both need her more than ever. Scarlett lost the woman she's considered an aunt and mentor for years. Juliette lost her former rival turned mentor. Will and Avery have both worked professionally with Rayna. People grieve differently and I'm hoping we will see that here as these characters try to move on from such a tragic, unexpected loss.

2. It's True To Life

I don't mean to be blunt but people die. It's very sad but it happens everyday. Death is inevitable. You can't ignore it; you can't run from it. You have to deal with it. Why not practice dealing with it by watching very attractive actors grieve and attempt to move on with their fictional lives on Thursdays on CMT?

3. The Music

Nashville is known for its amazing original music, but it has also prefected numerous well-known covers. Remember Daphne and Maddie's cover of Ho Hey? Or the Wayfaring Stranger (performed by Zoey in season 2) and an old blind man Rayna met earlier this season? As for originals, some of my favorites are If I Didn't Know Better, Wrong Song and Don't Put Dirt On My Grave Just Yet. Nashville has a way of providing a soundtrack that is not only relevant to whatever a certain character is going through at that moment but also relevant in real life.

4. Javery

The status of Nashville power couple has officially shifted to Juliette and Avery but can they handle it? Rayna and Deacon loved each other all of their adult lives and they still struggled with it. Juliette and Avery are trying to navigate their on-again/off-again relationship while raising a baby, juggling two careers and recovering physically, emotionally and mentally from a plane crash.

5. To Watch The Other Females Step Up

Nashville has always been a female-driven show with Rayna as the focal point. I expect that to continue with Juliette, Scarlett and maybe even Maddie stepping up to take the reins. Juliette seems the most poised as she's strong, confident and not afraid of the spotlight. Scarlett isn't one to demand attention but she's gotten more assertive every season. Still, her pregnancy will most likely take priority over her career for the time being. Maddie wants to make that leap but is she ready? My guess is she has a lot of maturing to do still.

6. Scarlett's Baby Daddy Drama

It's been done before — not even that long ago on Nashville with Juliette, Jeff and Avery — but the baby daddy drama is here again. Personally, I hope the baby is Gunnar's. I know he and Scarlett have a myriad of issues but they actually seem pretty perfect for each other; they're both sweet, sincere, soft-spoken musicians looking for love in all the wrong places. Hopefully, one day they'll figure out how to make it work.

7. Deacon

Deacon has always been one of the best (and most adored) characters on Nashville. He's real, flawed; in touch with his emotions but still a tough guy. He's incredibly loving and loyal; and the fact that's he's easy on the eyes doesn't hurt either. Still, the one thing that stands out more than anything is this — he has always been head over heels in love with Rayna. Now that she's gone he'll be forced to do something none of us ever thought he'd have to do — live life without her. Will he start drinking again? I sure hope not. Will he move on? Maybe eventually. I'm interested to see just where the show takes him.

8. To Witness Will's Journey

Will has come a long way since Nashville season 1 where we first met him as an aspiring country singer who also happened to be a closeted gay man. We've watched him fight those feelings to the point of marrying a woman he may have loved but not in the right way. He's stood up to numerous people over the years — including his dad — and he's finally out, shameless and free to love whoever he wants. I thought that might be Kevin, but after their breakup, I look forward to seeing where his journey goes (so long as it's not with Zack.)

9. New Characters Are Coming

Kaitlin Doubleday has appeared in numerous shows over the course of her career. Most recently she portrayed Rhonda Lyon on Empire. On Nashville, she'll play Jessie Cane; a character that left country music behind after a scandal and is now returning to reclaim what was taken from her. Rachel Bilson is best known as Summer Roberts (The OC) and/or Zoe Hart (Hart of Dixie). Her character, Alyssa Greene, is transported from Silicon Valley to take Highway 65 to the next level. She's a no-nonsense marketing expert who isn't shy about the fact that she doesn't like country music. Sounds like drama already.

10. To View The Beautiful Scenery of Nashville

Two of the most famous and frequently shown landmarks are The Bluebird Cafe (pictured above) and The Grand Ole Opry. Most of the characters have performed at one or the other; a select few have performed at both. Honorable mentions go to the Ryman Auditorium where Edgehill helds it's 25th anniversary party, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum where Teddy announced his mayoral candidacy and the Shelby Street Pedstrian Bridge where Deacon proposed to Rayna.

11. Loyalty

I have to throw this one out there because loyalty was so important to Rayna, ya'll. She wouldn't want you to ditch the show just because her character suffered an unexpected, tragic death. She would want to you hang on, stay loyal and support the rest of the characters/actors that she loved and worked with these last 5 seasons. Connie Britton said in her message to fans, "As I know [Rayna] would want it, the show must, and will go on."

Nashville Quotes

Why can't they just give out the damn award already? Why do they have to throw so many parties?

Juliette

What you're bailing on the party? Great that's one less person's feelings I have to tiptoe around all night.
