John Heard, best known for his role as Peter McCallister on Home Alone, has died.
According to TMZ, the veteran actor was found in his hotel room in Palo Alto, California on Friday.
The report states that Heard was found by the maid service.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after the police were called for a medical emergency.
The coroner is investigating, but a cause of death is unclear.
The actor was allegedly staying in the hotel while he recovered from back surgery he received at Stanford Medical Center on Wednesday.
Heard began his acting career off-Broadway in 1974 with Mark Medoff's play The Wager. His first TV role was in TV Movie, Valley Forge.
Arguably, the role he is most well-known for came in 1990 when he appeared on Home Alone.
He went on to reprise the role once again in 1992 with Home Alone 2: Lost In New York.
The actor's roles were not limited to the big screen. He appeared in a string of hit TV series over the years.
He received an Emmy nomination for his role on The Sopranos as Outstanding Guest Star.
His final TV appearance was in an episode of WGN America's ill-fated Outsiders.
That was earlier this year. According to his IMDB page, a string of films he appeared in are still in post-production.
Heard is survived by his three children: John Matthew Heard III, Max Heard, and Annika Heard.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
