TV Ratings Report: The Orville Slides In Thursday Debut

at .

The Orville has performed solidly throughout its first two episodes on Fox, but it did so with a heavy sports-induced lead-in.

It was always going to dive when it moved to its regularly scheduled timeslot on Thursday nights.

Head to the Hills - The Orville Season 1 Episode 3

The Orville Season 1 Episode 3 turned in 4 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. This represents a drop of 50 percent over its most recent Sunday outing.

Before that, Gotham Season 4 debuted with 3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. This was down from Gotham Season 3's debut, but up 10 percent from its May finale.

Also, we have to consider the fact that the show is on a brand new night, but the true test will be next week when the other networks launch their fall offerings.

Each show needs to stabilize around these levels if they hope to be in with a fighting chance of making it past the 2017-2018 season.

I Didn't Do It - Zoo Season 3 Episode 13

The season finale of Zoo thrilled 2.9 million viewers to go along with a 0.5 rating. Considering the dire straits of the CBS scripted fare this summer, and a lucrative streaming deal, the show could go on.

Over on The CW, Penn & Teller: Fool Us had 1.6 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, while Whose Line Is It Anyway? snagged 1.2 million viewers and a 0.4 rating.
