It's the end of the line for HBO's Veep.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the award-winning comedy will come to a close after one more season in 2018.

The political satire series has always been a favorite here at TV Fanatic, and that's down to the cast and the solid writing.

"It became clear that this season should be the last season," Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed.

"We don't want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has a finality to it that feels end-of-series."

Considering the show was still a success with viewers and critics during Veep Season 6, the news does come as surprising.

"Let's face it, this has been a role of a lifetime," she continued.

The actress has won a mammoth five consecutive Emmys for outstanding lead actress in the series, so it must be a challenging role to give up.

Julia and executive producer David Mandel seemed to realize the end was approaching and they did not want to keep the show going for the sake of repetition.

"It was just a very natural thing," Mandel says. "We don't want to repeat ourselves or be boring. It's bittersweet, but it's right."

Veep Season 7 is set to consist of 10 episodes, and there will be a lot of twists in store for the characters as the show comes to a close.

Veep Season 6 did lose a lot of ground in the ratings. It slipped almost 50 percent to average just 0.6 million viewers and a 0.2 rating.
