Young Sheldon Lands Full Season Order After One Episode!

Young Sheldon may have only aired one episode, but that was enough for CBS to pull the trigger and order nine additional episodes for Season 1.

That brings the total order to 22 episodes, which means Young Sheldon is the first new series of the fall freshman class to land a full season renewal.

The spinoff of The Big Bang Theory launched on Monday night with 17.2 million viewers and a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49. That was enough to make it the highest-rated comedy debut since Two Broke Girls in 2011.

It turns out, airing the series after its parent series was a good idea because the new series held an astounding 98 percent of the lead-in. That's pretty much unheard of in this day and age.

The Big Bang Theory Season 11 Episode 1 garnered 17.6 million viewers and a 4.1 rating in the adult demographic. That was up a little from 2016's opener for the series.

Young Sheldon follows the story of a young Sheldon Cooper who is played this time around by Big Little Lies' Iain Armitage.

Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan and Raegan Revord round out the rest of the cast for the series.

Many viewers noted that the series comes across as more of a dramedy than its parent series, and that's a good thing. Would viewers really want to see a carbon copy of the style of The Big Bang Theory?

Um, no. In any case, the back order may be a little premature when you consider the fact that the show won't be back on the air until November.

CBS likely knew the premiere of The Big Bang Theory was the best time to launch the show because of the amount of exposure the show would get.
