Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5 Review: Something Inhuman This Way Comes...

at .

Things are finally coming full circle with our lost Royal Family members on Earth in the latest chapter of Marvel's Inhumans.

With only three episodes left, I genuinely enjoyed Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5 because so much was happening. But it wasn't as much exposition as in previous episodes.

Reunited Once Again - Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5

I still find the very fast paced romance between Karnak and Jen (we got a name!) hard to care about. Because Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 only consists of eight chapters, certain things have to progress faster than usual.

It doesn't necessarily justify the show's reason for giving us a random love story, but I'll digress. I still don't understand Karnak's powers completely, but I was both enjoying and confused how he split a bullet like that.

I guess it's some form of combination between enhanced martial art skills and intelligence? Don't get me wrong, I don't mind him kicking some ass, but at least explain a little better what he can do.

Regardless, Karnak got to show his bad-ass side again while also getting some character development. I haven't been too keen on the flashbacks, but "Something Inhuman This Way Comes" used them well.

Be Ready For Trouble - Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5

What was confusing though was how Karnak was able to save Jenn but not Locus. Couldn't he have gotten the bullet out the same way as he did with Jenn?

Something that I still can't stop thinking about is Locus's final words to Black Bolt and Medusa. Maximus has so far been painted as the villain of the story.

But maybe there are some ways that Black Bolt and Medusa can do to become better Royals. That is something maybe Marvel's Inhumans should get better credit for as they address these questions.

It's not a boring or typical black-and-white comic book story. As someone who reads comics regularly, the best stories between heroes and villains are the ones that are complex.

Can Crystal Trust Dave - Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5

The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn't exactly have a lot of "power couples." But Black Bolt and Medusa have quickly become one of the few ones because I could watch them for hours.

I have said it once, and I will continue to say it: Anson Mount is extraordinary as Black Bolt. The scene where he learns how Medusa lost her hair is heartbreaking.

It wouldn't be easy to hold back your emotions if you heard that your psycho brother did that to your wife. Mount's performance through his facial expressions makes me glad he got cast in the role.

It helps that Serinda Swan has great chemistry with his character. If I could pick only one aspect of Marvel's Inhumans that I love, it would be these two, 100%.

Black Bolt and Medusa - Marvel's Inhumans

As glad as I was to see Lockjaw back on his feet again, I want more action for Crystal. She is one of the characters with the coolest powers from the Inhumans mythology.

But so far we aren't seeing a lot of that side of her. Crystal is instead stuck with a human who is obviously going to end up getting romantic with her by the time the season is over.

I didn't mind the scene at the beach where she shares her life at Attilan. But this would have been the perfect time for her to show off some of her abilities.

Hopefully, these remaining episodes will let Crystal shine more because they have a great character here. I imagine she will be reunited with the others in the next chapter.

Is A Romance On The Horizon - Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5

So far Maximus has had a good flow and not had any setbacks. But then the ending happened where hooded figures are planning to take him down.

I was genuinely not expecting that twist. That was one of the reasons why "Something Inhuman This Way Comes" became a stronger chapter for the show.

If your villain is succeeding without any obstacles, then you have lost me. I don't care for overpowered characters whether they are heroes or villains.

Now, I wish we had a clue on who these hooded figures are supposed to be. The comic person in me didn't recognize the symbol on the leader's forehead, so we have to wait and see.

Overall, "Something Inhuman This Way Comes" was one of the stronger chapters of Marvel's Inhumans. It wasn't only exposition this time as we got some solid action too!

Now it's your turn to let us know what you thought of Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5! Did you love seeing the family reunion?

Should Maximus be afraid of his angry family coming for him? Who were those hooded figures?

Marvel's Inhumans Season 1 Episode 5 Quotes

Medusa: Hello Maximus.
Maximus: Medusa...great, you have Locus.
Medusa: You better not have hurt my sister.
Maximus: Crystal is...I'd never harm her. I don't want to hurt any of you.
Medusa: Is that why you sent Auran and her soldiers, why you released Mordus because we put him down too!
Black Bolt says that when he gets home, he wants to have a few words with you.
Maximus: Tell my brother...I look forward to the family reunion.

Karnak: How do I act on a plan when I feel this doubt?
Jenn: You just make the best decisions that you can. Everybody has doubts.
Karnak: I don't doubt anything that I do. At least, I didn't before I hurt my head.
Jenn: You know the people who don't feel doubt are the scariest people on this planet, right?
Karnak: Why?
Jenn: Because doubts are our friend. It makes us question things, helps us find new solutions. Only crazy fanatics don't feel doubt.
