Scorpion Season 4 Episode 2 Review: More Extinction

at .  Updated at .

In the words of Jayne Cobb, "Shiny, let's be bad guys."

On Scorpion Season 4 Episode 2, Team Scorpion decides to be bad guys for a bit, which is beyond entertaining, and caused the above Firefly quote to pop into my head.

Yes, working for the government has its perks, but it's fun to see Team Scorpion dipping their toes into illegal territory, and then, you know, making Russia declare war on Norway. You do what you gotta do to stop an extinction event.

Cabe's Decision - Scorpion

The case itself is enjoyable. Between Toby in that speedo and Walter's terrible massage, watching the gang undercover is an absolute good time. Collins even managed to be not terrible, until, well, you know. We'll talk about that in a minute.

One of the best parts about the case, aside from the undercover aspect, is that it wasn't rushed. The team was able to carry out their plan, and when they hit a bump in the road, the whole plan wasn't overturned. There were minor changes.

This made it easier to follow along with what was going on, and it also meant that there weren't any over the top twists, which Scorpion is kind of known for doing.

Another highlight of the case is that Cabe was able to shine. He really kept the team focused and attempted to boost morale. The sports cheer failed spectacularly, but it was still fun to watch.

Cabe: Now hands in! All right, Scorpion on 3. Ready? One!
Toby: Sorry, Collins. Team members only.
Cabe: Two!
Sly: When was the last time everyone washed up?
Cabe: Three!
Walter: We wasted three seconds, let's go.

In hindsight, Cabe playing a bigger role during this case should have been a clue that something terrible was going to happen, but I was just so happy to see Cabe being adorable that it didn't cross my mind.

I'm usually really paranoid about things too, so it was actually nice that I didn't see that coming.

But you know what I did see coming? Collins being a traitorous jerk.

As soon as his name was mentioned on Scorpion Season 4 Episode 1, it was clear that he was up to no good. Sorry, but he's given no indication that he was going to change, and would you look at that, he didn't change at all. Two percent my ass.

Collins claiming he had injured his ankle raised red flags everywhere, as did literally every move he made, honestly. I knew he pushed Toby into the water!

It's hard to be impressed by the lengths Collins went to in order to escape because we all saw the escape coming. What's surprising is that no one on Team Scorpion was worried when Walter suggested taking off Collins' stun cuff.

This team has been suspicious of Collins ever since he called Walter from jail on Scorpion Season 4 Episode 1, but when removing the only thing keeping him tethered to Cabe came up, no one batted an eye.

Okay, sure, they were trying to save the world, but you're telling me no one thought this was a bad idea aside from Cabe? Cabe's only objection seemed to be that he would be defying a direct order, not that he thought Collins might be faking in order to escape.

For a team of geniuses, they acted like complete idiots. Toby literally mentioned how he was working with a man who tried to kill him, but he had nothing to say about the stun cuff being taken off.

Sly: Your plan is to pee people out of the pool?
Toby: I'll grab a swimsuit from the laundry, and while I'm getting changed, I'm going to search for how to say, "sorry I had an accident" in Russian.
Happy: Sometimes, I can't believe I said I do.

The only bright side, hopefully, is that this means we don't have to see Collins for a while.

Sadly, he will come back in some grand way, maybe kidnapping another member of Team Scorpion or maybe there will be an episode or two devoted to hunting him down. His return will be a big to-do, that's for sure.

Why can't Collins just stay gone? Was anyone surprised that Collins faked an injury and made a run for it?

Okay, let's end on a happier note.

Happy and Toby's scenes with Sly were fantastic. It's so great to see them be there for Sly when he needs them, and Toby and Happy both show Sly, in their own ways, how much they care about him.

What do you do when you lose your one true love?

Sly

They reminded us of the heart of this show, and they brought a tear to our eyes while doing it.

Seriously, when Happy gave Sly his new wedding ring, I almost started bawling. She risked her life so Sly could keep a piece of Megan with him forever.

I don't know if I'm ready for Sly to start dating, but he definitely deserves some happiness. Do you think Sly might enter the dating world this season?

What did you think of the episode? Can Team Scorpion get Cabe out of jail and re-instated with Homeland?

Scorpion Season 4 Episode 2 Quotes

Happy: I can fly the copter. Pilot's license, remember?
Toby: Oh yeah, last time you flew us somewhere, we crashed.
Happy: P.A.N.N.S. remember? No disparaging of ideas.

Walter: Right now what is our number one problem?
Toby: I'm being forced to work with a man who tried to murder me.
