The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 3 Review: Skeleton Crew

The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 3 is full of hilarious moments and an ending that will change the gang's lives.

On The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 3, the gang finally arrives in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Todd is distraught over the state of the town, but he tries to hide his feelings from Melissa.

Meanwhile, love develops between Glenn and Pamela as Carol attempts to forgive Pamela for kidnapping Tandy.

The episode ends with a surprise: the gang has to say goodbye to Glenn and Pamela because Glenn wants to go back home to see if his kids are alive.

I did not expect to say goodbye to them so soon, and part of me hopes it's not the last we see of them with the gang.

Chris Elliott was an absolute delight on this show. I thoroughly enjoyed his portrayal of Glenn, and I'm sad he is leaving so soon.

Glenn brought a lot of compassion to the gang, and I wanted Glenn and Carol to create a sweet father/daughter bond together. Unfortunately, it looks like that will not happen now.

I also enjoyed Glenn's blossoming romance with Kristen Wiig's Pamela.

He has the stamina of someone who really likes to order a lot of chores. He can find lots of things for me to do.

Pamela

Wiig and Elliott had great chemistry, both romantically and comedically. Pamela could have easily become annoying; on this episode, though, her time with Glenn made her likable and sympathetic.

I hope the gang somehow meets up with them again, despite being in different parts of the world.

This dinner is BYOB, which stands for Bye, You Old Buttface.

Glenn

I also adore the relationship between January Jones' Melissa and Mel Rodriguez's Todd. They are an unlikely pair, but there is a lot of love between the two characters.

Melissa and Todd on the beach - The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 3

We do not see a lot of Melissa and Todd's moments as a couple. The focus has been on Tandy and Carol as well as Pamela recently.

Now, though, they were featured in a central storyline, and both actors were fantastic in those moments. I truly root for them as a couple, and I was even tearing up in their final scene in the chapel.

Melissa is exactly what Todd needs, and in any other show, I do not think these two people would be paired together. That is what makes their relationship extra sweet. It's unlike anything else on television at the moment.

Tandy and Carol - The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 3

Tandy was barely featured, and honestly, the break from his obnoxious behavior was a relief.

I love Tandy, and I adore Will Forte. However, Tandy can be a little too much to handle at times. The focus on some of the other characters and the shift away from Tandy was welcomed.

Tandy was still featured in a few scenes, but instead of Forte overload, Kristen Schaal was given some time to shine.

In short, Pamela was a real Sit Here in Tijuana.

Carol

Schaal has always been an exceptional comedic actor. She has proved that on 30 Rock and in her vocal acting as Louise on Bob's Burgers.

The character of Carol, though, feels like it was created just for her.

Carol has some of the best one-liners, and Schaal delivers them perfectly. I'm frequently surprised and delighted by the words that come out of Carol's mouth.

Carol has a remarkable ability to develop relationships with everyone she meets, and as Tandy pointed out, to find beauty in the world's crap.

I love her optimism and her earnestness. The show could not survive without it, and Kristen Schaal is the only person who could pull off this quirky and lovable character.

I hope that we see Erica's adjustment to motherhood soon. I almost forget that she even had a baby last season because she's barely been mentioned.

Cleopatra Coleman is terrific as Erica, and she deserves more material than what she has gotten so far this season.

I imagine that being a new mother in a post-apocalyptic world can be quite challenging, especially when the baby's father is dead.

Jasper is left behind - The Last Man on Earth Season 4 Episode 3

So far, Erica's baby, Dawn, has spent her short life on a deserted island and a yacht. I find it odd, though, that the challenges Erica has faced with a new baby haven't been explored.

It's a story that should be told, and I hope they don't wait for Carol to have her baby to do it.

Carol

Overall, I thought this was a fantastic episode. It had laugh-out-loud moments coupled with the compassion and heart this show does so well.

The Last Man on Earth Season 4 has potential to be its best. I'm looking forward to the upcoming changes the gang will face without Pamela and Glenn, and with Carol and Tandy's soon-to-be-born baby.
