The Punisher: Renewed for Season 2!!!

at .

There's no rest for Frank Castle.

Netflix has officially renewed The Punisher for a second season with an undisclosed episode order.

The streaming giant confirmed the news via the show's official Twitter account.

"Time to reload. #ThePunisher Season 2 is coming," said the tweet, which was accompanied by a short teaser confirming the news.

The news is hardly surprising when you consider the fact that Netflix has yet to cancel one of the Marvel shows it has on its roster.

There was doubt cast over the future of the Marvel shows on Netflix because of Disney's plans to launch an SVOD service of its own, but this move essentially confirms the shows created for Netflix will continue to flourish.

The Punisher Jon Bernthal

It was previously reported that the Marvel movies would be bidding farewell to Netflix in anticipation of Disney's service.

The Punisher is the sixth entry into the franchise and stars Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Last Ship), Ben Barnes (Westworld), Amber Rose Revah (Emerald City), Daniel Webber (11.22.63), Paul Schulze (Nurse Jackie), Jason R. Moore, Michael Nathanson (Chicago Med), Jaime Ray Newman (Bates Motel) and Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil).

It launched November 17 to generally positive reviews, but some took issue with the show's reliance on violence to advance the plot. It was the grittiest series in the franchise for sure, but it made for a fresh departure from the others.

Jon Bernthal is The Punisher

Given that viewers will have waited for Jessica Jones Season 2 for almost three years by the time it premieres, we have no idea when The Punisher Season 2 will debut.

The wait will be long,

Over to you, TV Fanatics. What do you think of the renewal? Did The Punisher live up to the tremendous hype?
