Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Episode 13 Review: Nathaniel is Irrelevant.

at .  Updated at .

Not every show can manage to top their previous season finale, but yet Crazy Ex-Girlfriend proves that it can be done successfully. Now there is still no proper way to digest that cliffhanger without feeling both anger and excitement, but that has to be proof of a finale well done.

There is no way to even start guessing where Rebecca's journey will go now that she pleaded guilty and has to be headed to jail.

On Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Episode 13, Rebecca decides to come clean about everything that she has done to people that hurt them in some way.

Making Amends - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Paula can't handle all the lies anymore, and Rebecca ends up having to deal with Trent alone. It becomes a life or death situation when Trent threatens Nathaniel, and Rebecca pushes him off a roof.

Rebecca blew my mind this time around because the last thing I expected was for this all to end up with her taking the most responsibility possible.

Seriously, Rebecca lying to Paula was horrible and looking back on it now this really wasn't something they could just get over.

For Rebecca's progress moving forward and for her relationship with Paula, she had to take on the aftermath that always seems to come whenever she makes a big decision.

She wrote herself into a corner by not being truthful all the time which led to many people not being there to help or just not believing her when she needed it most.

There couldn't have been many other choices for Rebecca if she wanted to heal for herself and the people around her that she kept hurting. Rebecca was right when she said she kept blaming her decisions on not being sane but at some point, she can't use that anymore.

Paula the Mother - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Episode 13

Especially with the lies that she told Paula. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she gained something from it. This time around Rebecca made the mature decision, but what does that mean for her?

As much as I loved seeing Rebecca arrive at this better place, even doing it was for Paula couldn't make me forget that she is dealing with prison now.

There is no simple way to have her leave there, and it sets up an enormous shift for the show.

But still, I love that Rebecca's most important relationship is the one she has with Paula. Nathaniel was there offering them a future and yet she couldn't go through with it when she saw Paula.

It was all about making sure there was a future for Rebecca and Paula's friendship. I still can't believe that there is a show with that empowering and promising message.

Heather has been killing it this season even though her arc took a turn.

Her being pregnant took a second to wrap your head around but she made it hilarious, and it was almost fun to check in with her.

It also opened a door for a Heather/Darryl friendship, something that also came out of left field but turned out to be something so pure.

If I could ask for anything, it would be more Heather/Hector and Darryl/White Josh just because they offer stability in their relationships that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend can't always balance out when it comes to Rebecca.

Darryl and Heather's Adventure - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Episode 13

Heather and Darryl are not usually involved in a central plot arc but always steal the show with their adventures.

And now that Darryl has his daughter he has a whole new world that he is going to get thrown into again. Heather has more of her freedom back as an adult, and it would make sense if this new time in her life were focused on her career path.

The happiest Heather felt came from her accomplishments and the progress that she was making at her job.

Dr Pratt: Heather, any concerns?
Heather: Oh yeah. Birth.

Trent didn't die.

I repeat, Trent didn't die and even after everything he did I am very relieved.

Rebecca might not see anything in him and who could blame her? But even though Trent almost killed Nathaniel and got Rebecca arrested, I am still holding out hope that he returns yet again.

There is just something about the chaos he creates compared to the calm way he sets his plans into motion. It is entertaining to see him ruin things because he has a personality that makes you want to see what else he is going to do.

The way that he exited the season didn't exactly feel like an exit, which has to do with the fact that he is the one that could help Rebecca right now.

She may have admitted to her mistakes but there is still a chance for her deal with this in a way that doesn't involve jail and Trent is the key to that.

I'm having a party Friday night and you are not invited.

That brings us to the future of the show and where things could be going further down the line.

It wouldn't be a surprise, but it could be wonderful to see all of Rebecca's people coming together to try to help her, although that plan would have to rely on Trent.

It might be a way to bring characters that might not have had much to do this time around into the central story again because everyone will have to work together for this to work.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has pulled off a game-changing cliffhanger that sets up an even more prominent season to come. It was emotional, unexpected, and important to see Rebecca get to the place that she is now.

Moving forward, things will get harder, but she is at a much better place when it comes to her mental health which has to be the most successful part of the season in itself.

Sorry I'm late, someone asked me to change the water cooler on the way in.
