If Lauren Cohan appears on The Walking Dead Season 9, she may not be part of the main cast.

Per Deadline, the popular actress has been cast as the female lead in Whiskey Cavalier, a new action-drama from Bill Lawrence and Dave Hemingson.

Scandal veteran Scott Foley will appear in the series that follows a CIA agent who struggles in the aftermath of a shocking break-up. His luck changes when he is partnered with a new CIA operative.

Lauren Cohan Attends Event

We must stress that the series is at pilot stage right now. That said, there is a good possibility it will land on ABC's 2018-2019 schedule. It would certainly make Cohan's return to The Walking Dead difficult.

We've known for a while now that Cohan's deal with the AMC hit is due to expire at the close of The Walking Dead Season 8.

Maggie arrives - The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 16

There's no confirmation as of yet what will become of Maggie Rhee. Deadline notes that should the ABC series go forward, there is a possibility that Cohan could ink a deal to return in a recurring capacity for The Walking Dead Season 9.

If you watch The Walking Dead online, you will know that Maggie has taken on a leadership role of late, and has been instrumental in her team getting the upper hand in the war against the Saviors.
