Grey's Anatomy Round Table: Should Meredith be Punished for Ellis' Actions?!

at .

Finally, Jo and Alex are engaged!

On Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 15, the couple made it official after a long, bumpy road. Elsewhere, Meredith is forced to pay for her mother's mistakes.

Join Stacy Glanzman, Paul Dailly, and Jasmine Blu as they discuss the latest Grey's Anatomy.

This was the Alex centric episode that was teased a few months ago. Did it feel that way or live up to expectations?

Stacy: It didn't really feel Alex-centric as there was still plenty of other stuff going on. Not even all of the flashbacks were about him, so no, it didn't really live up to my expectations.

I don't know if I was expecting a whole hour based on him, but I thought it would be more than that.

Paul: I agree with Stacy. Alex's flashbacks seemed like an afterthought to fill some parts of the episode. I expected it to be a full-fledged episode all about Alex.

Jasmine: I was disappointed. He had to share flashbacks with two other people, but his flashbacks were the only ones that felt relevant. Then, they didn't show us anything we didn't already know. I expected more.

What would you grade the flashbacks? Did you like them or find them informative and insightful?

Stacy: They were okay. I'm not sure how necessary they really were. I also didn't really love the casting for Alex, though I thought the casting for Jo was really good.

Paul: Yeah, they were not great.

Jasmine: I thought they were pointless. Flashbacks are supposed to serve a purpose when they're used, but these served as filler.

Flashback Trio

Alex and Jo are officially engaged. React.

Stacy: That was a long time coming, and it was a super sweet moment. I'm happy that they are finally engaged.

Paul: I loved Alex looking for the ring only to find that Jo had already gotten it out for the occasion. Grey's is great at romantic moments.

Jasmine: It was OK. I suppose it was long overdue. Grey's is good for romantic scenes.

Jolex Engagement

Did you sympathize with Marie? Should Meredith have to pay for Ellis' alleged mistake?

Stacy: Yeah, I can sympathize with her situation, but none of it is Meredith's fault, and it shouldn't be up to her to make things right. As Meredith said, she can't hear her mother's side of the story, and what Marie is asking of her is completely unfair.

Paul: This storyline is very intriguing. How do we know what Marie is saying is the real deal?

We probably won't ever know the truth, but I don't agree with the way Marie has gone about it. Why should Meredith have to pay for something she has no idea actually happened?

Jasmine: I agree, Paul. I like this storyline. I could sympathize with Marie, but what Ellis did has nothing to do with Meredith.

Why didn't she come out earlier? Why did she wait until after Ellis died to say anything? How can Meredith fix a situation she knows nothing about, and why would a grown woman expect her to do that?

Tom chipped away at April and shared his own story. Do you think he brought April one step closer to a breakthrough?

Stacy: I hope so. I think it helped her to hear that he was able to repair his relationship with G-d after tragically losing his son. That's something April can relate to as well.

Paul: Yeah, it was definitely food for thought. It is going to come crashing down eventually, and it made sense to have Tom try to help.

Jasmine: I believe so. I loved their scenes together. They were among the best of the hour.I never expected Tom to exude such depth, wisdom, and pain.

Initially, I rolled my eyes a bit when he and April were headed towards sleeping together, but I could not have enjoyed their scenes anymore. I can't stop gushing about April and her arc.

What was your favorite moment from the episode?

Stacy: The proposal. It was just so cute and I kind of loved that Jo proposed to Alex. I also loved him frantically looking for the ring when she was already wearing it.

Paul: I agree. The proposal was so well-executed that it washed away the distaste for the rest of the episode.

Jasmine: Well, I already spoke a lot about Tom and April, so I'll go with Jackson and Maggie's conversation at Joe's. It was lighthearted and cute. They're both colossal dorks, and I loved it.
