The negotiations for the procedural drama have been known to go down to the wire in the past.

Despite lower than usual ratings, the show has remained a solid performer. Also, showrunner, Erica Messer revealed in a chat with TV Fanatic that tonight's season finale will not be a closure-filled affair.

Scorpion, which has suffered in the ratings this season also missed out on a renewal, and the series is firmly on the bubble.
