The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 18 Review: Zarak Mosadek

It's going to take a while to digest the big reveal on The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 18.

The idea that Garvey was protecting Jennifer from Reddington is a little hard to swallow. That Red has a long-lost daughter to add to the ongoing drama may be one twist too many for my tastes.

There is nothing I will learn about Garvey that will ever make me forgive him for murdering Tom. Putting Liz in a position that may cause her to rethink her feelings about Garvey really irks me.

Jennifer Reddington - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 18

I don't think she'll stop hating Garvey, but she might not want to do anything evil to him for the sake of her newly discovered sister.

Lilly seems legit, but who knows what kind of garbage Garvey put in her head. Everything she believes about Reddington being her father could very well be a lie.

But what would be the purpose for Garvey to take it upon himself to become Jennifer's surrogate father?

The last time Jennifer got mentioned, that I remember, was a couple of seasons ago when we met Red's ex-wife and she told him straight out that Jennifer didn't want to see him.

Surprise - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 18

How is that possible if she was in the witness protection program? Wouldn't she have had to sever all ties with her mother and anyone else who knew her?

And let's be realistic here, people, with all of Red's resources, do you mean to tell me that he was never able to find out where his daughter was hiding?

I always thought that he wanted to respect Jennifer and give her space which is why he didn't pursue her even if he did know where she was.

I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't know a scumbag like Ian Garvey was taking care of her all of this time unless he did and that's the connection between Garvey and Red.

That doesn't make any sense either because I never got the impression that Red and Garvey knew each other in the past.

And if Garvey had this big secret of knowing and protecting Red's other daughter all these years, why bother with the bag of bones?

I can't decide if it's intriguing or disappointing and frustrating that instead of giving us answers to the questions we already have that The Blacklist chose to throw another load of unanswered questions our way.

Heading To Paris - The Blacklist

There are so many different directions that the Jennifer and Liz story can take.

The most obvious is that Lilly isn't Jennifer at all. Either she's been lied to, or she's in cahoots with Garvey to lie about it, and it's a set up to get to Liz, and eventually, Red.

I can't believe that Internal Affairs wouldn't have questioned Garvey's weekly excursions to Pete's Bar. It just seems like a weird habit that they wouldn't be able to ignore.

The only answer to that conundrum would be they knew Lilly was in the Witness Protection Program and didn't report on it for obvious reasons, but that seems way too complicated.

Everything seems way too complicated at this point.

Samar and Aram are at a crossroads in their relationship because having a happy couple in the middle of chaos just isn't something with which the audience should be rewarded. If Liz and Red can't be happy, why should anyone?

Liz: Does anyone really know what hot wings really are?
Aram: Yeah. Delicious.

I loved Liz and Aram working together while Ressler and Samar worked with Red. It was a lot of fun to watch them each solve their own adventures.

Bad Advice - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 18

I can't help but wonder what Red thought when Liz didn't show up when it was time to go to Paris. He didn't seem concerned about her absence at all, but he had to have been keeping tabs on her. It's his nature.

And she can't be that naive to think that he wouldn't be keeping tabs on her, but she is so obsessed with taking down Garvey and getting out from under Red's thumb that she might have forgotten the extent of Red's reach.

The Blacklist Season 5 is quickly winding down, and we're no closer to learning the secret of the bones. It's going to be interesting to see how The Blacklist closes out the story of Ian Garvey.

I still want to see Liz torture him for what he did to Tom. Garvey doesn't deserve an easy out no matter what the truth is about Jennifer.

Over to you guys!

What did you think of the big reveal? Are you intrigued or frustrated?

Is Jennifer a setup or the real deal?

Will Samar and Aram work things out and get married or did Liz and Ressler ruin their relationship?
