Station 19 Season 1 Episode 10 Review: Not Your Hero

at .

That was intense, and I'm still holding my breath after watching Station 19 Season 1 Episode 10. Cliffhangers. You've gotta love 'em.

I've found that we don't have a lot of cliffhangers these days. Shows used to do that all the time, but not so much anymore. Every once in a while, but it's no longer the norm.

I have to wonder why that is, though, because nothing's better than having a story that literally has you sitting on the edge of your seat, mouth agape, and your head in your hands.

New Milestone - Station 19

Few things are better than that.

So, the day started off so well, and everyone at the station was so excited to fight the skyscraper fire. They were chomping at the bit!

We should've known at that point things would not turn out well.

FYI: When characters talk about what a great day it will be, the day will end badly. Murphy's law and all.

Sure enough, it turns south because all of Station 19 remains in the building when it explodes.

I get to drive now. BOOM! You see rookies don't get to drive, new guys don't drive. I get to drive now. Me!

Before we get too into that, though, let's step back a minute and look at what was going on that fateful day.

Maya Sleeps With the Enemy - Station 19 Season 1 Episode 10

Warren was so excited to receive the key to the aid car and is no longer be considered a newbie or a rookie. Fifty fires in and out., that's the measure. That's a good measure and something to celebrate.

Maya was having her regular Wednesday tryst because apparently, that's a thing, and we find out she's been keeping a secret.

She can't hear.

That Maya is such a determined and stubborn person, which serves her well in some areas, but she doesn't like to show any sign of weakness at all.

Don't rely on anybody else to have faith in you. You did what's right, that's what matters.

If she could just get it through her thick head that an injury isn't a weakness, she'd be in a better spot. If you remember during Station 19 Season 1 Episode 9, "Hot Box", Maya was blown across the garage when she went to fix the valve on the water heater.

I knew something had to have happened to her because that was a major blow, and we find out Maya has hearing damage.

How irresponsible to keep it to herself and head into a fire where other lives, including her own, depend on her being functional.

Maybe she was just in denial, and I hope that's the case. If not, Maya put everyone in danger by going to work. Missing a fire is not worth your life or anybody else's.

Warren Drives the Aid Car - Station 19 Season 1 Episode 10

Then we have Andy, who's still mad at her father. Boy is Andy going to feel bad when she finds out her dad is fighting for his life. That is if she even makes it out of the building.

Jack was still mad at Andy, and we saw at the end he wasn't holding onto any anger. He poured his heart out, and I hope by some grace of the fire gods he found a way out.

I'm not ready to lose anyone!

Andy, I lied before about having regrets. I don't. Not with you. I won.

Miller was carrying around guilt from screwing up on Station 19 Season 1 Episode 9 where he almost got half the station killed. By this time, we know Miller is a deep feeling and honest dude, so I wasn't surprised at all he confessed his mistake to Jack. I would expect nothing less.

The big lesson we learn in this episode is that life can change on a dime, and it's silly to hang onto anger or hurt for any longer than we have to.

It could all end at any time.

So, what are we left with? The entire crew is in a fire, the captain is at death's door, Montgomery is bleeding out, and Jack is on a floor that explodes.

Somebody will not survive.

And don't think the rest of them are safe because Miller is stuck in the elevator, and we still don't know if Andy will go up or down the stairs.

Well, we're being pointed in the direction that Montgomery won't make it. I don't believe he's going down like that.

I'm wise to the old bait and switch in these types of storylines. More often than not, you get all upset that your favorite character will die, but it ends up not happening, or it ends up being something else.

Ryan Keeps a Secret - Station 19 Season 1 Episode 10

I don't think Montgomery will die, but that might be wishful thinking on my part.

I also think the captain will make it. He couldn't be in better hands than Bailey's, so I'm confident he will be fine.

You are a surgeon. Save the life you can save. We both know that's not mine.

Jack is the wildcard. Isn't that typical Jack though? Maybe his quick-thinking abilities will keep him alive. We've seen him make snap decisions this whole season, based on instinct, and Jack comes up smelling like a rose. We'll see.

Andy is going after Jack. Even after the explosion, there is no way she's going down those stairs. She's going up to find him.

Mark my words.

I want to take a moment to mention poor Molly. She was doing her darndest keeping everybody in line. To have her trampled on the stairs was heartbreaking. And we don't even know her!

We felt for her, right? She's one of those underdogs who stand up, and we're all like, "You go, girl! We've got her back!"

I hope she makes it.

Remember her and Montgomery are both with Warren, and if anybody can think on their feet in an emergent medical situation, it's Ben Warren. Fear not!

Andy, I lied before about having regrets. I don't. Not with you. I won.

I loved everything about this episode, from the beginning all the way to the end. It was by far the best episode of the season, and it makes me excited to see what's in store for Station 19 Season 2.

What did you all think of the episode? Who do you think will die? Were you mad at Maya for keeping her hearing secret? Were you sitting on the edge of your seat? I can't wait to hear what you all think. Leave a comment and share your thoughts about the season finale! Be sure to come back for Season 2. I know I will!
