Paige Townsen's career is not as popular as we were led to believe.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Freeform has canceled Famous In Love after two seasons.
The series starred Bella Thorne as a wannabe actress who achieves overnight success after attending an open casting call and is chosen to lead the cast of a movie series based on a novel series.
According to report, the network did initially want to press on with another season of the show, but the show comes with a hefty price tag, and it did not make financial sense for the network to continue it.
The series' SVOD partner, Hulu was apparently asked to spend more money on the show, but considering the fact the network has swung the ax, it sounds like an agreement could not be reached.
Thorne's relationship with series showrunner Marlene King is also said to have been frosty, likely making any potential third season a difficulty.
Famous In Love launched in April 2017, and Freeform released all of the episodes to binge shortly after the linear debut. In turn, it resulted in anemic on-air ratings.
Famous In Love Season 1 averaged just 0.3 million viewers and a 0.1 rating in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic.
The network opted to air all episodes of Famous In Love Season 2 weekly as opposed to the binging model that was a success for the first season.
This did not do anything to increase the ratings. Instead, they skated lower, and the series followed a similar trajectory to Beyond which was also canceled after two seasons.
Freeform is actually cleaning house of late. The Fosters recently wrapped after five seasons, while Young & Hungry is airing its final episodes, and Shadowhunters was canceled last month after it emerged that a co-financing deal had fallen through.
