While Kara and Mon-El dealt with a crisis on Argo on Supergirl Season 3 Episode 21, J'onn and James attempted to track down a DEO weapon used on the street.

Below, TV Fanatics Christine Orlando, Kathleen Wiedel, and Stacy Glanzman share their opinions on the DEO's decision to switch to non-lethal weapons, Kara and Mon-El's relationship, and how Kara will make it back to Earth.

What are your thoughts on the DEO switching to non-lethal weapons?

Christine: I find it intriguing, especially given everything happening in the real world. I’m hoping this is a storyline that continues. I want to see the obstacles as much as the successes in as realistic a way as they can portray it in this fictional, superhero world.

Kathleen: Normally, I agree with you on most things, Christine, but this plotline had me wanting to throw my computer out a window. It had all the nuance of an after-school special and the subtlety of an anvil.

Furthermore, they attempt to address a real-life issue (the potential danger of guns) and then proceed to offer a fantastical response that can't possibly be applied to the real world!

Sure, it would be awesome if these amazing non-lethal weapons existed in real life, but they don't! Therefore, their solution comes across as incredibly preachy and self-congratulatory.

Not to mention the fact that it's all undermined by the realization that the DEO isn't Joe Schmoe from Suburbia with his gun collection -- they're highly trained paramilitary operatives whose literal job is to protect Earth from potential extraterrestrial (even extradimensional!) threats.

Is adding non-lethal weapons to their arsenal a good thing? Absolutely. But it makes zero sense to entirely replace their weapons with the non-lethal variety. It reminds me to an extent of the whole debate over Kryptonite and whether it should be produced and/or stored.

Stacy: Kathleen's answer sums it up perfectly! I'll add that one problem with switching to non-lethal weapons is defining what exactly is non-lethal? They aren't dealing with humans who all have the same weaknesses.

Kara is bullet-proof and only susceptible to Kryptonite, whereas Mon-El can handle Kryptonite but is allergic to lead. What's non-lethal for one might not be for another, so that could be a major issue.

How do you think Kara was going to respond to Mon-El if they hadn't been interrupted?

Christine: I wish I knew! I’m still not sure exactly what Mon-El was saying. Was he going to leave Imra to give him and Kara a chance? I really enjoy Kara and Mon-El together, even more so since he’s returned because he has matured so much, but I’m not sure where these two go from here.

I’m betting we’ll be left with another cliffhanger concerning their relationship when we get to the season finale.

Kathleen: I, too, wouldn't be surprised if they leave the question of the fate of their relationship until next season. Provided Mon-El doesn't perform some Heroic Sacrifice. Frankly, I hope that the writers remember that Mon-El is married, and that marriage means something.

If Mon-El left Imra to be with Kara, that might make Kara out to be something of a homewrecker to fans, regardless of the unusual circumstances. Maybe she would have said something along those lines to him.

Stacy: I agree. I almost feel like Kara shouldn't respond until the situation with Mon-El's marriage is resolved. I would not want her to put herself out there just to potentially have her heart broken again. I honestly have no idea where this is going to go, or if Mon-El will stick around next season.

What do you think the black rock actually did to Sam? Do you think Kara will make it back before another attack?

Christine: My only guess is that it physically separated her from Reign, but Reign probably still exists and she may still feel Reign’s presence in the Universe. Now that Kara doesn’t have a ship, traveling back to Earth will be difficult.

I wonder if Imra and Brainy will turn up to get Mon-El and they’ll all end up back on Earth once again.

Kathleen: I like the idea that Imra and Brainy will appear to give Kara a lift back to Earth. That way, it'll open up the door for Imra to die heroically and thus solve the biggest relationship problem of the season, in a nice neat bow!

Seriously, though. It's possible that the black rock actually did mostly separate/destroy Reign, but left Sam with some residual effects, a la Captain Picard and the Borg in Star Trek: First Contact. We'll have to wait and see, though.

Stacy: Those are good theories. Sam was obviously affected by something at the end, but her eyes didn't turn red, which is curious. Serena must have had a plan in mind though, and it definitely has me worried for Sam.

As for Kara and Mon-El getting back to Earth, I agree that Brainy and Imra returning for them is the most logical solution.

What are your hopes or theories for these last two episodes?

Christine: There’s so much going on! The World Killers, or at least the people controlling the World Killers still have some sort of plan for Earth, and I’m not sure non-lethal weapons will be able to stop them. I'm leery of Lena's new assistant. She's just a little too eager for me to trust her.

Kathleen: Always be wary of the eager-to-please characters on TV shows! They're usually serial killers.

As I mentioned in the previous question, I do expect Imra and Brainiac for the end, and I would definitely not be surprised if Imra bites the big one, in no small part because she wants Mon-El to be happy, but he clearly loves Kara more than he cares about her, and I get the impression that divorce isn't an option...

Anyway, Kara will end up back on Earth, having decided to stay with her family of choice and resume her responsibilities to protect the Earth from alien threats.

Stacy: We could be in for a tragic end. Losing M'yrnn is going to be devastating enough, but if we also lose Sam (and maybe Imra, if Kathleen's theory is right), we could be in for a lot of loss. With Alex looking at adoption sites, I still think Sam dies and she ends up with Ruby.

It feels like they've been foreshadowing that all season.

Christine: I think people frequently mistake fear for respect, so my favorite quote came from J’onn:

Kathleen: J'onn dealing with his father's creeping and insidious dementia has been a powerful and moving storyline all season, and I enjoy how they continue to deal with it here. Well, perhaps enjoy is the wrong word. "Appreciate," I suppose?

Stacy: I always enjoy the sisterly moments we get between Alex and Kara. Alex assuring Kara that it's okay to be selfish, despite wanting to be selfish herself by asking her to stay was a sweet moment.

Kara: When you went away to college, we figured that out, we did that.
